Curious thing about Portal... aside from the end-game soundtrack, I found most of it to be too subtle to listen to - aside from some of the more prominent, fiery pieces.

And that's what makes it simultaneously Great - and utterly forgettable.

In addition to my addition, anyone who has played Samurai Warriors knows and loves the Osaka Castle theme

The piano is just beautiful.

But like BlazBlue it really helps to play the game, as the music does an absolutely perfect job of capturing the mood of the situation.

And I really just have an unlimited amount of songs I could still post.

Nobody's mentioned Persona yet? Persona 3 and 4 have music that'll blow your bloody mind.
Care to share? :)
That's one of my favorites from P4.

When it comes ot other games I have to many to choose from, Chrono Cross, Tony Hawks Pr Skater, Courier Crisis, Megaman, Final Fantasy...

See now, that music DOES sound awesome - but it's too Heavy for my liking :p... I like things either a bit more Grand, or a bit more Subtle...

Though it does get pretty spiffy right near the middle.

Most of mine are from older games, but some are more recent.
They are as follows:

GoldenEye: 007

I'd link examples and such, but my list is a bit long. So, to put samples in, even in spoiler form, would make my post enormous.
Ahh yes, Goldeneye... [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGxubrgpELU]

Not posting the actual music because I'm too lazy but I'll give titles as examples

FF6: The Decisive Battle, Kefka, The Wedding Waltz. Everything about it just works and Kefka is just damn creepy.

FF4: Golbez, All the Villain themes are awesome, and Golbez's big pipe organ theme is just Bad Ass.

Anything Shoji Meguro puts out from the bitching guitar riffs in DDS, the Jazzy Devil Summoner, and the more J-pop Persona 3/4. Examples: Who's there?(P4) Hauntingly creepy and awesome. Raido's Theme, though it did wear out it's welcome in the final battle of Devil Summoner 2, Divine Entity(DDS2), and Burn my Dread(P3).

Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin:Some people didn't dig the drum and fife style but I absolutely loved every tune in the game, all catchy as hell. Examples: Crucifix Held Close and the remix of Simon's Theme.

Tales of Legendia: Excellent Soundtrack that too many people missed out on because of the sub-par art design and gameplay. Not listing any example, go to youtube or play the damn thing, it's worth it.

Medal of Honor
Left 4 Dead
Team Fortress 2
RuneScape (Yeah, I know...RUNESCAPE...)
TimeSplitters
Heavy Rain (Even though I've never played it)

Just a few games (series) that have the BEST SOUNDTRACKS EVER.

Wait a second, how could I forget Assassin's Creed 2? Not only do I absolutely love that game to death, it also has one of my favorite soundtracks ever!

Yeah same with me.
Although once I actually listened to the songs (on youtube or whatever) I found that they were amazing, so I posted them.
Even now when I play it I only recognize the fiery tracks as you say, or some of the ambient themes that are used in Half Life

I love how contrasting some of it is, from the epic endgame music to the subtle and quiet Self Esteem Fund (my favourite in the whole game)

Y'know, that's the exact same music Lemonade linked me to I believe :p

Some songs on there are classical, pop, or a jazz/rap hybrid. And it all goes together so well when playing.
