I love RPG's so much, but i am still weary over which is better of the two.

The elder scrolls is an awsome game its self, it has not redifined the rpg genre, but set a new one for its self.

Dragon Age takes rpgs back to basics and it is such a allround good game.

What do you think is better?

Elder scrolls, they will always be the best RPG's
even back when morrowind came out it was the best RPG.
Dragon age ogrins is a step back, theres nothing new for RPG's in there.

I'm somewhat biased...but Elder Scrolls. Although they're not really similar...

Why do everyone have to keep comparing games that are really quite different, just because they are in the same genre. They are both good games. Let's be satisfied with that.

Well, I think I played Oblivion a lot more. Also think I enjoyed it more. Sure, the characters were bland, the conversation system retarded, but it was.... I dunno, a lot better for me somehow.

Only played elder scrolls myself, but going by the quality of other Bioware RPGs, it's really hard to decide...

well, Oblivion bored me towards the end, but mass effect left me wanting enough for a second playthrough. If Dragon Age is anywhere near as good as Mass Effect, then I guess there's your answer.

They're too different to compare. I guess I've done more playthroughs of Dragon Age, though.

Which Elder Scrolls? If you're reffering to Oblivion, it's inferior to Dragon Age in most ways. Morrowind is better and roughly in the same ballpark. However, that's very subjective since the Elder Scrolls series is VERY different from Dragon Age, to the point where comparing them is like comparing a RTS to a FPS...

I've only played Oblivion, so that would be my choice.
just so damn much customisation! Brilliant.
although DA: O does sound tempting.

Elder Scrolls straight up. Dragon Age had next to no civilian interaction. Which is one of my main criticism of most all jap games, Just hordes of enemies to slash up, and if you any kind of dialog you want have to look hard for it.

Sometimes it feels like Dragon Age is a good plat-former, it reminds me to much of the Gauntlet series. It's only technically an RPG, in the sense that you level up. Where as Elder Scrolls has always been about building relationships, forging alliances AND kicking ass. You know, play your roll in the worlds affairs. Your a hero and a diplomat, not just a crazy kick-ass guy with a sword.

Dragon Age is a great game, but it definitely doesn't fulfill my RP craving any little bit.

You realise Bioware are Canadian right?

But I agree with the rest, Elder Scrolls is far superior.

Considering I have no idea which elder scroll game you are on about (assuming Morrowind/Oblivion)I would have to answer with a question, in what way? Better in sense of story, character, plot, combat, animation, music, graphics? Overall? And to which Elderscrolls game the first few are nowhere near as good for certain they did not age well.

As a modder I can say Oblivion kicks Dragon Ages arse rather hard, the hardcoded UI and archaic scripting are utterly horrid though the cutscene functions in the toolset are quite fun if not clunky.

Having obsessed over both, I am going to say... Depends. Yes it is a cop out answer but this is also a ridiculous question.

Elder Scrolls was about a singular character in a world, thus everything could revolve around him or her. You could be a stealthy bugger or a sword swinging bastard or a spell flinging wanker. You could even do all three if you were a hybrid whore like me... But the absolute versatility of what you could do made it all very... Bland. Comparing Morrowind's combat to Oblivion's found me liking the idea of using my reflexes and hating absolute adherence to stats for a hit or miss. Which is why I like combat better in Oblivion vs Morrowind. I can think and react fast, the game rewards me for that. Morrowind didn't.

Then you have Dragon Age... Which is more tactical and makes anything you do feel special in regards to combat or spells. You can't exactly feel like a ninja like you can in Elder Scrolls but I am willing to forgive them since they made magic interesting for me again. Every fire spell looked pretty much the same in Elder scrolls, etc. Flash boom, done. Also, Dragon Age has specializations which gives you choices that have impact whereas in Oblivion or Morrowind, you could honestly just have every skill at once on every character and there was no reason not to...

Playing Dragon Age Origins felt like playing D&D, I was interacting with characters and my choices had impact on my progress. Playing Elder Scrolls felt like tossing an idea together and exploring everything with unlimited time to do so. Both are good, Dragon Age Origins is for feeling cool. Elder Scrolls is for getting your explore on, also cool.

Different games, so why compare them?

Most of the Elder Scroll games were rubbish(I liked Daggerfall abit, Morrowind and Oblivion were flawed but there has not been a game that have even attempted what they have done)

And there is only one Dragon Age: Origins so far, and it's different in pretty much every way. So ... what was the point of this again?

Aw crap. Thank you, you just keyed me in on something I completely missed. I don't know why, but I had Dragon Age mixed up with Demon's Soul's. Consider this a contraction for what I said earlier, man I feel stupid.

I haven't played Dragon Age yet, so I can't really comment on it, other than I know It's supposed to be basically a medieval version of KOTOR, and thats something I can get behind.
