I've never had a problem with my Creative MediaSource 5, but it's probably not the best by far. I just like the way everything here is organized.

I use MP3 player. That's right, I wire my MP3 to my speakers, less of a CPU hog on my computer then.

I use foobar2000 [http://www.foobar2000.org/] with FLAC [http://flac.sourceforge.net/] audio codec.

I like it a lot better than winamp/WMP/iTunes/whatever. Seems to sound better and supports a lot of addons that make my headphones sound good.

SMPlayer. It's a nice GUI on top of MPlayer (open source, plays everything, no bullshit).

Generally I'll use Windows Media Player, but Winamp does the job whenever WMP decides to go haywire on me.

WMP. I refuse to allow itunes onto my computer (my sister has an ipod, but no computer atm.) as it tends to fuck up loads of my stuff.

I use Windows Media Player for music, as usually I listen to music while playing games and WMP is compatible with my Music-Player buttons in the corner of my Saitek Eclipse II keyboard (in case I want to skip a track / pause it briefly without alt+tabbing out of the game).

For everything else I use VLC, it's never let me down with a multitude of file formats, although most of the time I just watch basic DVDs with it.
