which Persona game should i get?

After other escapists recommended the Persona games to me, I became addicted. (Hence, the Persona 3 avatar.)
Anyway, both are fantastic no matter what.
The third one is a bit slow, story wise and only has one main dungeon but the plot is amazing. Also, no control over party members but the a.i. is smart enough to keep up with the gameplay.
The fourth one is currently my favorite. The characters are much more realized and have their own personality and traits. Persona 4 also has a somewhat lighter tone to the game than 3. Full control over party members and much faster leveling are certainly improvements from the previous one.
Both last around 60-100 hours depending on how much you get into it.
If you are looking into the games for the soundtracks, you won't be dissapointed by either.

Out of what? cause the first two have no real connection to the second two. They become VASTLY different games, and the games that most people here like to praise are Persona 3 and Persona 4.
Now me personally, I've played both, multiple times, and loved each. However, I enjoyed Persona 3 more (and if you get Persona 3, get Persona 3 Fes, cause there's much more in it). I enjoyed the story, and the characters more then I did in Persona 4. And while it is one dungeon in comparison to Persona 4, each one feels distinctive in its appearance, and the enemies do as well. Plus the reaper looks cooler, it seems, and there seems to be more fulfillment in Persona 3 Fes' ending then in the Persona 4 ending(s).
Plus you get the Answer in Persona 3 Fes, which is like two games in one, and you get the extra 30 hrs. So there'sa bit more gameplay in Persona 3 Fes with the 100+ hr gameplay of the Journey, and the 30+ of the answer.

ANd you cant deny that Orpheus Telos is freaking amazing.

And actually, thinking about it now, You should probably play 3 before 4. Its serves as a nice intro to the battle system you use in four, so there's a nice transition, and some of the jokes and characters you see in 4 are from 3, so just knowing who they are or why its funny is nice.
... come to think of it, one of the main jokes in one of the S. Links in P3Fes was from P2...

I would say get persona 4 , i played 1 3 and 4 , and 4 is by far my favorite . It's a muder mystery , the characters are lovable, the story is AMAZING ( also try to figure out the culprit withuot game faqs ) , it feels less like your grinding thn persona 3.
Persona 3 has the best story, hands down. You will love the characters, you will cry at times. Persona 4 has much smoother gameplay and a good story as well. Both are great games, but I'd start with 3 myself. If you want to play it on PSP, it's still good, though I hear they take out some of the cutscenes, which really breaks the immersion in my opinion.
I don't know, I'm playing that right now and it's not too bad; not quite what I was expecting, but not bad. ...except for the random encounters. I HATE random encounters. Well that, and the whole negotiation thing is a *****, but overall it's sill pretty intriguing so far.UncleUlty said:
Persona 3 wasn't bad, but it pales in comparison to Persona 4. The story pacing is worse, the game is more grimdark(which you may like, but I personally hate considering it's part dating simulator), the characters weren't as appealing overall, and the dungeons are repetitive and pointless.
Of course, you'd still probably like it, but I'd avoid it if I wanted the best experience possible.

Depends on your tastes I guess...
I preferred 4, less dungeon crawly, better characters/plot and a more refined combat/social link system... it's also a lot funnier. Though you also aren't going wrong with 3, it's still a very good game.

For the most part, all the games of Persona are self-contained and you wouldn't miss much in continuity. I feel that they are all good in their own particular fashion (not just talking 3 and 4, but the others as well). The thing that is most important is that it will keep you busy for a LONG time. And during that long time, if you feel you want to check the others out, you'll probably amass more money to do so by then.
The only correct answer is both P3 Fes and Persona 4. There is no choosing, just get them both. I know money is tight, but you can get them both for about 50 bucks total. FIRST YOU GET THE PERSONA, THE YOU GET THE POWER, THEN YOU GET THE WOMEN. Because you can date people! lol
Persona 3 has better storyline where as Persona 4 has better gameplay. Both are good, so it just depends on what you consider better.

But if you have to waver, you should probably get P3 Fes first, the changes in base gameplay will be kinda' jarring if you go from P4 back to P3 Fes. Fes is cheaper and better anyways.
