I trust most of the IGN UK staff, PC Format, Game informer and most people at the Escapist. But mostly, I trust myself. I always look up trailers, gameplay video's and demo's before I buy something. And I have a friend with far too much money that buys all games that seem interesting. That's handy too.

Yahtzee for everything not JRPG and even then I take it all with a large grain of salt.
Otherwise I'm going with word of mouth and demos.

Friends if they have tried the game before.

If none of my friends have, then i simply look at a couple of reviews and see if its liked in general, i dont really "trust" any reviewer over another.

None. I don't take any reviewers opinions of a game with any sort of weight. I look at the trend, then see how many people are bucking the trend. (For example, is it just Yahtzee who hates ME2, or are other people having serious problems with it as well)

I build up an amalgam picture from any review I can lay my hands on without having to pay for it.

Well, nobody really.
I always like to let richer friends buy the game first, and then I ask them.
Alternativly, I sneek into their homes, get them drunk and test it on their installation.

Always worked out fine.

I like watching Yahtzee very much, but almost exclusivly for the (great) comedy.
I don´t really think that someone I don´t know can tell me if I will like a game.

I usually go with what the Escapist team. I only listen to Yahtzee to see what might be wrong with a game.

I don't always agree with the Escapist staff; I thought Metro 2033 and Overlord 2 were great, but I still trust this site because I can usually be sure that the Escapist staff is expressing their actual opinions of the game, rather than what someone is telling them to say. (which is more than I can say for IGN or Gamespot)

It hard to shop for GOOD games that have all the qualities that actually make a GOOD game, game companies will put out any bullshit excuse for a game because they know if you stick enough of (enter what appeals to 13 year here) they'll beg their mommies to buy it for them. So they get away with highway robbery every year, 100's of game realeases in any given year with no more then 10 worth the disc they're printed on.

So sometimes I listen to Ben, and sometimes I don't.

I usually try to take reviews in general with a grain of salt but Gametrailers is my go to thing usually.

I trust Yahtzee's for telling everything that's wrong and Metacritic for the overall score from every other reviewer out there.

Yahtzee, Yahtzee, Yahtzee. Not because he's infallible, but because he can be counted on to pick up on all the bad things, which I can then use to decide for myself whether I want a game. That's why I prefer a critic to a reviewer: a reviewer, when all's said and done, usually has to give a score or a recommendation, which is basically useless since there's only so much you can objectively call "good" while there's a lot you can objectively call "shit".

Case in point: even though Yahtzee loved Painkiller, his video on it let me know I didn't want it, because he still mentioned the bad AI (one of my pet peeves).

I look around. If im interested in a game but not really a must buy for me i check the whole gambit of reviewers to see all of their impressions. If the majority of opinions are 8+/10 or 4/5 stars, Ill look into the game play of the game then decide.

For all of you who pick yourselves as the reviewer you trust i envy you and all your expendable money, or that you fall for all the hype from the publishers marketing department.

Mostly non-organization reviews, just regular old youtube users who want to express their opinions.

And certainly not IGN. They're wrong about EVERYTHING.

I don't trust Yahtzee at all, he's just bashing games which is all well and good but not for me buying a game.

I tend to to look at IGN just for the raw information about the game (not the review itself) then I do in fact look around the user reviews on this site, I find some of them can be quite a thoughtful bunch without getting to bogged down in technical things.

The Spoony One, Zero Punctuation, Angry Joe, and Gametrailers are the four that can actually interest me in buying a game I wasn't quite sure about before.

Yahtzee to pick a game apart and most of the guys here I guess but most of, I trust Russ Pits and Greg Miller from IGN (and him alone from that place) simply cause I like that fat bastard.

usually IGN.com, i dont trust gaming magazine EDGE it always seems to rate great games poorly, and gives stuff like bayonetta 10 out of 10, that game was shit

but usually I trust word of mouth from friends the most

If any game developer was smart enough, they'd contact Yahtzee to take a look at their game before he releases it. He points out every single minuscule flaw in a game, he'd be the ultimate proofreader.
Unfortunately, most game developers are idiots (not all of them, of course.)

EDGE magazine has quite high standards for games, only a tiny number of the games they reviewed got pure excellent ratings.
