(To Clarify in simpler terms, which company has been releasing what is essentially the same game over and over without any real complaints from their fan-base?)
If that is the case. Mario.

of course, that doesn't mean that mario is in any way good.
That arguement sounds good in theory - but simply cannot be made since Mario Tennis is NOT Mario Kart :p

Mario 64 is essentially the ancestor of Galaxy, sure - but the Mario franchise is sprawling with different stuff.

The closest in that field is the Mario Party franchise - which is Literally the same thing over and over with different minigames.

Unreal Tournament series has achieved gameplay perfection. Not one gun or vehicle in the game is unbalanced.

In my opinion, The Void is perfect, even with it's insane difficulty!
And weirdly enough I consider Silent Hill 2 to be near perfect.
What do you mean weird? Silent Hill 2 is one the most intelligent, perfect games created. That fact is not disputed.
Maybe because I didn't like the combat? Everything else is great though, and that it is one of my favorite games.

I won't argue with that; the combat was shit. But then again, no one played for the combat.

But what the dickens is the Void?
The only game I can say it's a true work of art? One that has the best atmosphere of decay, death and loneliness that I haven't experienced since Silent Hill 2? A great PC exclusive released in 2008 by Russian developers? One that uses color like if it was life (literally)? One that has some Symbolic Easter Eggs that are left for interpretation?

Mario has been getting better with each new installment. My favorite 3D game is Super Mario Galaxy 2 and it is pretty much just Galaxy 1 and the 2D ones were all amazing. Also Pokemon, especially Pokemon. And MGS.

Another good suggestion - except that the original UT didn't Have vehicles...

Putting that aside though, you're totally right - it's basically the same game with a beefier graphics engine.

And a GOD-AWFUL storyline... I liked it better when they weren't trying to make me care :p

Also, getting rid of Xan was a MISTAKE.

I understand that, but also I am not a horror fan. So that's why I say weirdly, mainly because I thought I wouldn't enjoy a horror game (that is, that was released on the PC).

Consider my interest piqued! I shall have to look it up.

On topic, the MGS series. Need I say more? Although it doesn't fit in to the thread's theme, MGS is my perfect series, as instead of offering the same experience over and over, it moulds and shapes itself as it goes along. I'll insert my regular rant here:
Without a single down, the MGS series. They are each masterpieces, each divulging into different, interesting subjects such as memes, genes, scene, the illuminati plot, gene manipulation, the violence of warfare, the irrelevance of enemies, and the morality of warfare, to name I few I spotted. Each character has a past, hobbies, ideals; all of these things make me genuinely interested in them, and genuinely saddened if they die. The gameplay itself is fun, intuitive and free. Various strategies can be used, and using the various items is easy, and quick. The Codec provides the most interesting system I have seen so far in a game, allowing for a hints system as well as a means to know more about the plot, various characters, items, weapons, and current objective. There is no need for a compass, an objective screen, and other such things. Just the player, the pause menu, and the Codec. All of this is without mentioning the perfect timing of the various jokes and puns, and the pure devastating emotions blows the series inflicts upon you.
People that say that the series is boring, and that cutscenes are long, miss the point of the entire Saga completely. I dare anyone who has played all 4, (not 6, don't worry) games, to respond, and tell me they didn't cry, or come very close to at any point during the series.
I will respond to this, with the following words. Metal Gear Solid 4. Act 4. Naomi Hunter.
Indeed, my favourite character. She is coarse, cold, brutal, forgiving, gentle, romantic, withdrawn, masochistic, intelligent and brutally honest, which I why I love her. She is clearly not a good character; she does things is that series that are unforgivable. But she redeems herself; appeasing for her sins if you will. She is not perfect; far from in fact. And yet, I still managed to well up tears when she died. She was by far my favourite character in the saga, because she was the most real video game character I have ever been able to witness. I'm glad you experienced it as well.

Pity I didn't have access to a Playstation or I might be able to begin to understand the MGS discussions going on :p

I'll have to stick to liking Hitman.

=] My thoughts exactly. Oliver, the reason that MGS4 is just so good, is because the character development, plot and gameplay fit so seemlessly together to make a game that is as cinematically entertaining as it is fun. It is also the reason i bought a ps3, so i have to thank it for that aswell. I love my ps3 =]

Just consider that it's very hard. Maybe as much as Demon's Souls or even more! But still, this didn't bother me, although I did die a lot of times.

Difficulty doesn't faze me - if the story is good enough.

I hate to think of myself as an obsessive gamer, but that's pretty much the only reason I bought a PS3 too. I guess the series is just that good!

Neither am I. Apart from Silent Hill 2, Dead Space, Resident Evil 4 and Resident evil 5, I haven't played any horror games.

Resident Evil 4... what a masterpiece that was. If Resi 5 had just stuck to that sort of deal, it would've been So much better...

Also, killing Wesker was the worst thing I've EVER had to do.

Just hit the sack and woke up many hours later, and now I recall that in fact - the Sims hasn't changed at All since it was created, and the eight-billion expansion packs are just more of the same... And yet there are people still shelling out big-bucks for them.
