Which usually turns out worse? A movie based on a video game or a video game based on a movie?

Both ideas are terrible. A game that does very well should stay as a game and not leap over to a Movie. Ruins it.

Wouldnt really work on a Good choice Bad Choice game like Fable or Fallout. Unless they made it kind of like a pick your own adventure book. In a big movie theatre. Everyone sees the opening, but at the end they are given a choice to do good bad, or the third option. And than continue onto the next room corrosponding to their choice and continue the movie. That would really screw over the pirate movie industry.

You liked BOTH Mortal Kombat movies? I can understand the first one because it's not really a bad movie but the second one was horrible.
Kind of. I haven't seen that one since 5th grade, so my opinion might be considered void. But I still do like the first one, and I've seen that one w/i the last couple years.
Just to give you an idea on the second one's quality...http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/vi...talgia-critic/2533-mortal-kombat-annihilation

i have to say there was one good movie based off a game although it was a straight to dvd release. That Final Fantasy VII Advent Children movie i thought was pretty good.

Watch any of Uwe Boll's movies, then the answer will be very simple...

Yeah, I decided to go out and rent Annihilation last night. After watching it, I totally take back any defense I attempted to uphold.

Movie-based games gave us GoldenEye, widely considered a classic and FPS revolution. Game=based movies while some are entertaining, none can be considered classic in ANY way.

Games win

In some bizarre weird crazy-*** way that would be kind of awesome =P

However we have yet to see a good Videogame to Movie adaptation.
Gears of War movie is supposed to be in the making, we'll have to see about that one.
So is a bioshock one aswell.

game based movies are worse, cause they piss off more gamers then movie based games piss off movie fans :).

I agree...and I'll add that movie-based games gave us the Lord of The Rings series of games...Except for a few titles,(War of the Ring, the Hobbit, The Fellowship of The Ring), the rest have been fantastic (e.g. The Two Towers, Return of the King, The Third Age, Battle for Middle Earth, etc.)

Also, I believe the Harry Potter series of games to be quite entertaining...I still play Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, and, yes, even Quidditch World Cup.

Lest I forget the Star Wars games...Battlefront's one and two, Episode 3: The game, and the Trilogy Arcade are still fun, despite the ages.
