The main character in Baldur's Gate 2 got it pretty bad a ways into the plot:
Not only is he betrayed by one of his trusty companions, he then is told that his best friend (whom he, considering their upbringing and lack of other people of similar age, may well have lost his virginity to
is actually his sister (sorta) and then gets his soul ripped from his body. During the inevitable escape (through a haunted asylum) he discovers that when angry/upset enough, he will now turn into "The Slayer" - a being that would make Bruce Banner appreciate he's only stuck with The Hulk. The Slayer has a penchant for going berserk at your party, preferably your love interest if present. And the only way out will land him in the bloody *Underdark* where he is forced to magically pose as a drow. And so on.
Technically, this is probably a little more than a day, but it happens in such quick succession game-wise that I allow it to count.
