None.

What is really unpleasant is the haters of various franchises.
Fandom I can understand, but actively hating a game?
That's just lame.
I would beg to differ. Dependant on the individual fan/hater, the hater can be preferable to the fan, usually when the fan is just downright provoking attacks. An example of this that I come across all too often is a Call of Duty fanboy who will yell and scream about how Call of Duty is 'Teh Best Gamez Evar!', that its graphics are the best out there, that its gameplay is what all games should be like, that all games should have single player campaigns like it, ect.
I, being the 'hater' in this case, will politely inform them that that is there opinion, that CoD is actually behind on the graphics field, that whether its gameplay is good is subjective and I feel it is not and would like to keep other games from getting that style of gameplay, that its campaign, whilst alright for a Modern War FPS, is nowhere near great, and too me spends far to much time slowing down time to show off some tank driving through a trench infront of you or other things that sure, they're kinda cool, but just let me play the game.
Usually their reaction to this is the 'That's your opinion, but CoD IS the greatest game evar, and that is fact!', completely ignoring the fact that someone else might have a different opinion, and being completely immature about the whole thing.

Personally it comes down to who is being more immature and provoking as to who is worse. There can be some absolutely horrid haters, but fanatical fanboys are just as bad.

OT: Portal, for the ZP reference. In all honesty, I don't think there is one single game that has the worst fanbase, but all games. You will get some horrors with any game you play, and you will get some good people.

Just because everybody else is naming off first-person-shooters, I'm going to say The Elder Scrolls. I literally can't go anywhere on the internet(even xbox live) without hearing about Skyrim, or how much I suck because I don't play Skyrim

^This. The The Elder Scrolls trolls as I would like to call them, and it seems you have met them, are blind, irritating and igonrant since to them it makes sense to use the word 'dragons' as a argument when they try to convince people to spend their already spent money on Skryrim and it makes sense to them to say that "...to get the full experience and to tie everything together you'll have to come up with a own backstory" even though it doesn't make sense why YOU should do it if Bethesda hasn't.
Sorry for my bad English.

I'd say Elder Scrolls because of the non stop in my face hype and a mentally challenged fanbase.
Seems like everyone who has a problem with the TES fanbase is simply infuriated by the hype. I don't get this, if you've actually played CoD or Halo multiplayer, there are some real douchebags. Yet people hate on Elder Scrolls fans for no other real reason than that they love the franchise, and this creates hype. If you don't like the hype, ignore it. It isn't directed at you.
^This

So some people troll on LoL and WoW. So some people can't walk a block without hearing how a person likes Skyrim. So what?

How long ago was CoD in the news because some fans of the game committed violent acts and theft? There was one about a guy who drove to a kids home and strangled him for talking crap (although that guy is my hero for doing what most of us have wanted), the story of some young punk trying to rob people after stalking them for a copy of the game, the threat to blow up a Best Buy when they sold out of CoD, and then the truck raid when a group used tear gas and knives. There might be more, but that's just all I can recall off the top of my head.

Nintendo fanbase. I know it says game, but that'll just make me list Nintendo games. No other fanbase has ever look down on me for not playing X game.

No offense to the good fans out there, just that some people give you guys a bad name.

I've heard horrible things about the HON/LOL player base that makes me not want to even consider those games. They're probably the least pleasant in terms of being abusive.

in my experiences

CoH has been the best to me community wise.

WoW's where to dickish for me to want to see what people see in it.

how ever, the worst that i actually PLAY, is Vindictus, less in game and more on the forums, though its calmed down a lot, but oh my god, the shit storms from the morons, (ironically almost ALL play a Lann) 'this character is better then that, and if your not playing it you suck' was the general tone for MONTHS.

Lanns thinking they're the shit cause 'their the damage'

Evies cause they can solo everything

Fiona's >.> .... <.< .... are pretty quite actually, Same with Karok's player base, they seem pretty content to let the morons squabble and generally be wrong. another thing, that happens, mostly in the high level raids, kicking based solely on character, the reason very but its mostly 'i don't like this character so fuck em'.

COD and Final Fantasy fans are especially annoying just because they are the most vocal.

Minecraft is getting there though.

I have a problem with them because most of the Elder Scrolls fans I know talk down to me like I'm some dirty peasant just because we don't share the same interest in games.

...

On the hype issue, I can ignore the hype in small doses, but when literally 1/2 of the threads in the gaming discussion section are Skyrim threads, I just can't. Doesn't Bethesda care enough about their fans to have a dedicated forum for that kind of crap?
Yes the hype may annoy you, but I don't see how it makes the fanbase unpleasant, like I said, it's not directed at you - it's the fans talking amongst themselves. And don't you think it's a little hypocritical to complain about being talked down to for not sharing the same interest in games one moment, and then two paragraphs later to call forum threads "crap" simply because you're not personally interested in the game?

Battlefield fanboys. They just can't handle the fact that CoD is more popular, and so have to make their opinions heard in every corner of the internet, even resorting to spamming metacritic. (Not that it was reputable in the first place).

I fully agree with this, but I also know that like religious zealots, there's a number of fans in all franchises who tend to stir up problems and make the fanbase look bad. Of course, I also think fans who feel the need to create pornographic material of a series are also examples of bad fans cause it can colour peoples' opinion of the base in general.

As some have said, Sonic's fans are known for being quite vocal and hard to please. Conversely, Square-Enix's fans tend to obsessively jump to the defense of even the most flawed game.

Minecraft people bitching at Bethesda just because Bethesda has more money and wants to protect it's shit.

Other than that though, I'll say 97% of everyone on Xbox LIVE, the fact Xboxes are so cheap now, kinda allows too much riff raff into the community, hence why I stopped playing Xbox LIVE over 3 years ago (Steam is also just, better for me.)

I guess I'd have to go with WoW, just because either they act like you're weird if you don't play it, they act like they have a crippling addiction because they play it, or all they do is play it day and night.

FPS in general, CoD in particular.

I will grant that most WoW raider groups are pretty full of themselves, Console vs. PC can get pretty nasty, and anyone trying to defend the Wii as a good console is in for a tough time, but for sheer vitriol, bigotry, and immaturity, (with the added bonus of screaming) the CoD players win hands down.

You had me up until the "ftw" and not one, not two, not three, but four exclamation marks.
Now I know an annoying harvest moon fan. :p

TF2

You have to be pretty fanboyish to be still playing a game that old and the fans come off a bit creepy as well.
As a TF2 fan, I have to disagree. The thing is that the updates make the experience completely different each time, so it's not like you're doing the exact same thing for days and days. There's always something to do.
Also, how does that make us unpleasant? Sure we seem fanboyish(Which I don't agree with, but I don't want to get into that), but at least we're not annoying or downright mean. We just like hats.

Here's one that will probably be a bit different:
The 1997 FPS "Blood"
Now, don't get me wrong. I love Blood. The atmosphere, the design, the main character, I love it. However, some of the fans are very... odd. They're not annoying, they're not creepy, they don't usually send balls of flaming hatred against anyone who doesn't like the game, but something about them just strikes me as a little bit off. This doesn't lower my oppinion of the game itself, but some of the fans... I don't know. It's a shame more people don't know about that game, I'm sure a lot of people would like it if they knew what it was about, because the title makes it sound like some sort of self-proclaimed gore fest.
Also, Minecraft fanboys can be a true pain in the ass sometimes, so much that it makes enjoying the game almost a sort of guilty pleasure.
Oh, and someone earlier mentioned My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I'm sure if this were about TV shows or fans in general, that would have been the first thing to come to my mind. I cannot stand some of these so called "Bronies".

I 'unno. There's lots and lots of unpleasant communities.

TF2 has it pretty bad. Never before that have I actively seen a community segregate itself. Seriously, that was stupid. Blame it on cheaters all you want, but of all the F2P players, cheaters were the very smallest minority.

CoD has a pretty terrible one. Between the little kids who yell constantly, or sing, or scream racist things at me (most of which don't even apply), and the people who think that having the Joint Ops thing in MW3 is "cool"... It's just not pleasant.

Sonic the Hedgehog. EYE COLOR. Never has so much shit been flipped over eye color.

From what I've heard, games like League of Legends have TERRIBLE communities. Never played one, never will, but...damn. "Noob, uninstall and kill yourself" is not an uncommon phrase 'round them parts.

Bungie.net is the biggest congregation of idiots this side of CoD. The way they ***** about armor lock, and reticle bloom...

Basically, every game has a terrible community. Especially Minecraft.
