I would beg to differ. Dependant on the individual fan/hater, the hater can be preferable to the fan, usually when the fan is just downright provoking attacks. An example of this that I come across all too often is a Call of Duty fanboy who will yell and scream about how Call of Duty is 'Teh Best Gamez Evar!', that its graphics are the best out there, that its gameplay is what all games should be like, that all games should have single player campaigns like it, ect.fenrizz said:None.
What is really unpleasant is the haters of various franchises.
Fandom I can understand, but actively hating a game?
That's just lame.
I, being the 'hater' in this case, will politely inform them that that is there opinion, that CoD is actually behind on the graphics field, that whether its gameplay is good is subjective and I feel it is not and would like to keep other games from getting that style of gameplay, that its campaign, whilst alright for a Modern War FPS, is nowhere near great, and too me spends far to much time slowing down time to show off some tank driving through a trench infront of you or other things that sure, they're kinda cool, but just let me play the game.
Usually their reaction to this is the 'That's your opinion, but CoD IS the greatest game evar, and that is fact!', completely ignoring the fact that someone else might have a different opinion, and being completely immature about the whole thing.
Personally it comes down to who is being more immature and provoking as to who is worse. There can be some absolutely horrid haters, but fanatical fanboys are just as bad.
OT: Portal, for the ZP reference. In all honesty, I don't think there is one single game that has the worst fanbase, but all games. You will get some horrors with any game you play, and you will get some good people.
