Ozymandias from the Watchmen. It's not so much the fact that he succeeded but it's the way he approached what he did. Firstly, he was doing everything for a reason and took his time. He had no rush. Secondly, and this is the most important, he's not stupid about his plans. He's not idiotic enough to keep a journal about his plans and isn't overheard talking to one of his henchmen about it. He doesn't boast about the plan until after he's already completed it.

I've yet to see that level of sophistication in a video game villain. I haven't played every game of course but the protaganist always finds some way the villain has slipped up and I find that hard to believe.

I think 'The Oracle' from Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy was a good villain because he only attacked you when you were in the way. If he won in the endgame - he didn't kill you because he didn't particulary want to.
Ozymandias was a very good bad guy. Loved that film but dont forget the Rorschach factor as Ozymandias did. Still he was a very well presented bad guy as most "for the greater good" ones just come across annoying but his aloofness actually made him likeable insted of a snob. I loved the ending.

Kessler from inFamous and Andrew Ryan from Bioshock are the ones who I relate to just because if I was in the same situation as Kessler or had the same vision as Andrew Ryan I don't know what I'd do differently. As for a video game villain who operates behind the scenes secretly controlling everyone who could affect her plans long before she even exposes herself to the heroes - Sarah Kerrigan? By the time she even appeared roughly half the cast were infested.

Eli, from Let the Right One In. A scared little kid who doesn't have any friends, and is almost completely dependent on others to keep her alive. And just happens to be a bloodsucking undead monstrosity...

John Marcone, from the Dresden Files. Mob boss of Chicago, generally considered a ruthless son of a *****, but has certain rules, such as a refusal to harm innocents, which periodically make you rethink his character.

I can see how the Borg Collective could be in the right. All they are trying to do is make a uniform and equal system of life throughout the universe. I can see how that would work well. No more wars, stupid politics, necessary arguing. However, my will as an individual is still too strong to completely agree with that.

Hey! Nice looking first thread :D

That quiz is an asshole and called me Bowser, Robotnik and Sephiroth, whoever those last two are.

But if I had to choose I would probably say Darth Vader, just because.
I thank you, I need to make sure to read all the posts as I missed yours, apologies. Darth Vader is far more simple then most big bads, which is a nice change, he's a tool, a bad arse tool like a chainsaw but still abit of a drone. He doesnt really believe in anything anymore. He used to be a "whatever it takes" bad guy but we all know how that went.

Sephiroth who? (I don't play FF). I could care less about videogame villians, the only villian I need is *me*! (seriously, I'm my own worst enemy)

Well, it's hard to put a "villain" tag on the ones I do, even if they are... hm.

Okay, well, I'll just note that I LIKE Ravel from PS:T. Relate, no, but that game was hellishly good for twisting your emotions.

Relate... Ah, I have it. Griffin. The Invisible Man himself. He was no trouble at all until absolutely everyone picked and poked and pried at him and betrayed him. (The old friend near the end is a particularly assholish example of this. If he had just NOT betrayed him, kept calm, and tried to talk him down, this all could have been avoided!) He's not so much a villain as he is an unbalanced man who is driven insane by everyone around him. I totally get that.

I find I relate to Magneto. He's turning out to be one of the most powerful villians in the marvel universe, with his power just growing, but it's his 'ethics' I love the most. He has the utmost respect for his nemesis, charles xavier. He even calls him old friend. He sticks up for Xavier, even when his own henchmen diss Xavier...always pointing out they can never be anything like him! He fights for what he belives to be right as opposed to just being an asshole and wanting to destroy humanity, so if he has to team up with the X-men he will! In essence he's the villian who's 'misguided' in his attempts to achieve peace / a place for mutants (whether it be them at the top and humans at the bottom)

I found myself agreeing with VIKI from iRobot.

Otherwise I just like Scar, I don't know why.
You believe we should all be locked up for our own good?
I believe you should all be locked up for your own good. :p

I can't really remember how it went; I just remember sympathizing with her view and thinking the main characters were just being irrational.
Funny enough the problem with VIKI's ideas was that Humans ARE irrational. You can go on all day that its for their own good and how its for the best but chances are someone out theres not going to like it and try to wreak havoc on said plans.
Well, I guess that's why I sympathize with her. Stupid humans.
I have to admit, the idea of a "Big Brother state" has never bothered me to much.
I've got to agree. I don't really care if someone somewhere is watching me shower or whatever.

When you get down to it, a totalitarian dictatorship is actually the best form of government; provided that the dictator is not a dick. Sadly, people seem to have trouble becoming dictators without somehow also becoming evil. This is where VIKI would do awesome though: A constant government that is only concerned with what is best for us, and we wouldn't have to deal with a change in policies every four years.

Say what you want about dictatorships, but they get things done, so a perfect dictatorship would always be better than a democracy.

The problem is that no one person should ever have that much power, as 1 person can never speak for everyone. But if its a computer that takes everything into account maybe it would be different. Although im guessing she would see in the majority and the minoritity which again will cause problems. In my oppinion at the end of the day you dont have to live here so move.
