Clean voice: Victor Griffin (Place of Skulls/ex- Saint Vitus guitarist)

Growling vocals: Legion (ex- Marduk vocalist/Devian)

Honorary mention goes to Lee Dorian of Cathedral... his voice isn't great - or even good - but it fits the music perfectly.

David Bowie. He's been able to keep a strong voice throughout his whole career. Yes, he and his voice are aging, but it just adds more character when he performs his older songs. His music is so different too. Every decade is completely different. You always know what Bowie your listening to.

Justin Broadrick.

I like the way he can switch between a downright frightening growl that he uses in bands like Godflesh.

To this spookily beautiful, ethereal drawl that he uses in bands like Jesu.

The fact that he's also an amazing guitarist makes me regard him as one of the best musicians around.
you should listen to Opeth's Michael Äckerfeldt, he sings beautifully, and has a growl that is yet to be bested(IMO)

Benjamin Burnley.
Truly a unique voice.
This. I realised the other day that if Ben Burnley covered every song ever, I would feel it would be completely worth losing all the originals, if not for some creepiness from songs like "My Humps" and the like. Tie for second is Freddy Mercury and Jesse Lacey (from Brand New).

Probably Kurt Cobain, but I also love each of The Beatles for their vocal talents as well.

James Labrie, he pulls off the castrated male singer thing perfectly.
Haha, so true. For really excellent metal vocals, though, I like Russell Allen of Symphony X. He's like Ronnie James Dio but with even more layering in his voice.
