As I geographer,I feel obligated to highlight that geography does not only involve maps and photographs (I haven't used a map in geography for at least a year)..it covers a huge range from rives to wars to policing.

*mini rant over*

but as a person, then yes I do enjoy maos and photographs. I actually love to look at modern vs vintage maps to see how places have changed!
As do I. Maps are just my favourite part of geography. I also like talking about landscape features. Crater lakes and river deltas, for instance. Or the topography of the deepest ocean trenches...
Fair enough! I used to love the deepest trenches (still do really) but recently my eyes have moved skywards to the idea of space

When does a geographer become an astronomer? Can you be a space geographer without becoming the latter?

Ha HA, I knew there had to be someone out there who had the same animalistic lust for knowledge of the globe that I poses. Yes sir I too, love to look over the maps of the world, learn their capital cities and other useless facts about their world, ah tis a good life. Also being Australian, it continually frustrates me that most of the maps I ever end up reading have greenland looking almost the same, if not larger than us. Western Australia on its own is larger than greenland you fools, get your facts right God Damnit, also Queensland is bigger than Alaska, just putting it out there.

I have a fetish for people who know their geography. As in, they can look at a map of Europe and tell its Europe.

Sounds stupid but these people are becoming increasingly rare.
Really, We'll educated in general is a turn on.

OT: I like looking at maps of military action in wars and the like.

I'm not sure if that's ironic, or meant to highlight why you find educated individuals attractive.

Accursed erroneous apostrophe!

Holy mother of Thor, Space geography! You, my friend, may have just shaped my future. That is one of the most brilliant things I have heard.

And to answer your question, I am not sure. It just fascinates me to know that we are nothing much more than a speck of dust within the universe

*edit* must learn how to quote shorters pieces...

It's not the same for us Irish, we are constantly stalked by a big creepy deviant:

Look at Wales, going for our ass, and Scotland breathing down our knecks... he sniffs us when we aren't looking.

The only memorable experience I have had with geography is when I called my geography teacher a bastard.

I've actually been looking at pic of maps for like an hour now. Absoluty love it but I don't find them sexual in any way. I think you should get your self checked out or rethink what you think fetish means.

Why would I need to do that? "Fetish" doesn't just mean sexual paraphilia.

Like "Stick your peninsula in my fjord" type fetish? Or something that might match up with the term "scenery porn"?
This was what I thought in some part of my mind, too.

In the "when I first thought of Florida as America's penis, I came" way, no. In the "maps are cool!" way, still no.

Binnsyboy AWAY!!!
