The reason lot of kids are like this nowadays is because of all the shit music in our generation. Every rap song these days talks about drugs, sex, and beating/raping/other abuses of women. Then of course we have all these female singers on Disney that get so much publicity with young adults (which amazes me, who above the age of 10 watches Disney unless they're really bored?) and then they end up being whores, like Britney, Lindsey, and the soon to join, Hannah Montana. With all these figures, people think it is ok to do this kind of shit. If you like current day rap music, you are retarded and don't know good music, to say the least. Mainstream for everything these days has become sex and drugs. Then, we have retards who don't understand why our Country is like this, when it is blindingly obvious. On the subject of kids not talking back to adults and modesty and that stuff, I treat an adult like I would any other person. Why shouldn't I? I bitched to bus driver who was yelling at my friend for swearing (which he didn't) like I would to any of my friends. I treat everyone with respect as long as they show respect to me and my friends. I'd never walk up to someone and just start being an asshole, unlike most of my generation.
While music is likely a contributing factor, it's certainly not the root of the problem. If you have moral values and care about other people, you can listen to gangster rap and death metal for hours on end, the effect if any it'll have on you will be temporary elevating of certain mood patterns but once you stop listening you should be able to determine whats right and whats wrong, and not feel the need to renact the themes of the songs. The desire to get recognition and follow in the footsteps of artists shows a severe lack of sufficent caring role models in that persons life. If at a young age a person cannot depend on someone, preferably a parent, to be a strong supportive role model they'll find there own. Alternatively the person may just have personal issues, either relating to medical, social or educational difficulties, which would lead to them renacting the violent and amoral acts depicted in rap.

Personally, I love some -good- rap, but I'm not likely to ever do drugs or treat women in a derogatory way.

Edit: Reading through, I sound old here, also like a missionary XD

I'm worried about children these days. Lately on Xbox Live, I've noticed a lot of players, who haven't even hit puberty yet, playing games like Gears of War 2 and GTA4; and to put the cherry on it, they know every curseword in the book and using them correctly, including the derogitory words like nig- uhh, I shouldn't say it but you get the idea.

I know a lass from poland, she is uber-intelligent by most english peoples standards today and a freaking genius by americas standards! :D Is everyone from poland attractive?
The first sentence should have a period after the word 'Poland' instead of a comma. The words "Poland", "English", and "America" are proper nouns and should be capitalized. "Americas" should be spelled "America's" because it is possessive.

BTW...I'm an American.

You're also pedantic, congratulations. And have you ever played COD4 online? If anyone that isn't American even opens their mouth they get an earful of abuse for not being American... and an awful lot of racists on their aswell, don't know why?

In regards to youth crime:
Statistically, there is a drastically lower occurence of crime, especially violent crime, among juveniles today, than its peak in the early 1990s, at least in the States. So really, stop ascribing traits to a whole generation of people, when in reality it's just a minor segment of the population.

In regards to youth brattiness:
I question the mental state of any kid who doesn't want more toys. I mean, really. What kid doesn't want more toys?

i absolutely HATE the new generations attitude.
i'm only sixteen but theres a massive difference between my year at school and two years below us.
our year is extremely connected and mostly good at our work in general,
whereas others spend their time drinking, sleeping around or getting into fights.
the annoying thing is that so many of them then come to us to fight their battles, and although a few times we have they learn nothing from it.

I mainly mean newer rap music. I listen to Death Metal and Rap from the 80s and 90s all the time, that stuff is actually good. New metal and rap bands are just crap in my opinion. Another thing is, a lot of kids now aren't smart enough to realize that they shouldn't do things depicted in this music. I guess the reason for that boils down to the fact that the divorce rate and other factors that may make children turn away from their parents in this country is higher than it has ever been. This begs a question. Some kids like this, it really isn't even their fault; it is their parents fault.

I really hate my generation, most of us are spoiled brats who complain about a job like they're getting their arm pulled off for minimum wage. Lets also not get started on the cell phones... wait why did she want a second one? But yeah kids are spoiled and they have no patience to let things come to them.
I feel the same way about mine.. common sense and decency has escaped them

Could not agree more. Just last night there were some kids hanging around outside the pub I work at. I went over to move them on. I saw one of them had a can of lager. I told him he was too young to be drinking. At which point he told me to fuck off, stating that he was 15!

Oh how I laughed!

I hate people in general, unkind people that is.

Working in a store for my part time job made me realize how utterly rude people are these days.

Growing up, it was my sister who got everything while I was left with all the cheap stuff (she's moved out now, I'm 15), and I learned to live with it (hell, if it's a functioning phone, why get another?). But most of the selfish, pompous ass type kids get on my nerves to no end.

I'm actually more disgusted at the attitudes towards youngsters these days.
In Britain at least, alot of people seem to be under the impression thats everybody under the age of twenty is a knife wielding, feral, maniac just waiting to burgle your house, happy slap your wife and stab the cat.
I mean, god forbid kids hang around with their friends in public and maybe get up to a little mischief now and then!
They're just kids, quit demonising them.

I really hate my generation...They have no respect for anyone or anything. I've seen kids use textbook pages as rolling paper for joints, I've seen kids smash their cell phones into little tiny pieces because they ran out of texting minutes or whatever the hell they are, I've seen a 13 year old girl going down on a 15 year old IN THE SCHOOL GYM, I've seen kids hit their girlfriends for not calling them, and I have had some little runts try and fight me, despite the fact that I could smash them into silly putty. I have seen a 13 year old pull a knife on another kid IN SCHOOL, I have seen kids take a crap in the corner of the bathroom because they think it is funny! I could go on and on about what I have seen, but my brains will melt out of my ears and I'll end up acting like these little brats.

But yeah, if these kids could get REAL discipline, maybe they'll turn their act around. Or maybe they'll call Child Protective Services. It could go either way with these kids.

This is nothing new. Don't concern yourself about it, every generation thinks the one below them is going off the rails and it doesn't happen.
This is the biggest truism in life, IMO. Historical perspective is key to understanding all that is going on around us.

"Kids are horrible nowadays!" During the Great Depression, kids roamed the streets in major cities, living like vagrants...stealing and begging for what they could get.

"Our society is so violent." During the Roman empire, they used to have gladiator battles where sometimes THOUSANDS of people were slaughtered for the live audience in one day.

"Times are so tough today". Again, in the Great Depression, the unemployment line consisted of standing under skyscraper construction zones waiting for someone to slip and fall to their deaths. When that happened, the next person in line became employed.

I'm not saying that the generation below us has problems. They do! I have a baby on the way and knowing that popular shows like Rock of Love Bus and Tila Tequila will have to be explained makes my stomach churn. But then again, we are giving it to them.
Your right every generation has its problems ,but with each new generations comes innovation (something completly knew) and with that thier is always the off chance that something is actually going to devastate our species more then previously known before. We should'nt compare our lives to our ancestors. I mean honestly, did they have cell phones and nukes?. Nonetheless I understand your point of view, but the flaw is we can't always predict the future with the past.

Yes, I agree completely. You think you're too young at 21? I'm 16 and I hate it. Especially the clothing and attitude of these little runts. I had to wait for stuff my kids will damn well do the same. I've noticed either parents are far too liberal with their kids (I saw kids no older than 12 drinking cider on a street corner the other night) or too protective as in "No Timmy! Don't do that, you might get hurt and can never experience the world because of me, your thicko paret"

It's all bloody annoying. I remember when adults were adults and kids were kids. Now kids are trying to be adults and adults are trying to be kids. No wonder the world's going to shit.

Rant over, I can relax again :)
This, except I'm 15 and hate it just as much.
