Well, having siblings and with one of them having 3 kids, it's hard to NOT care about Christmas, since we've always had a quite big dinner with grandparents and such there.

Also, since this year may very well be my parents last Christmas due to cancer and heart problems, I guess I care to make it as good as we can do.

Whenever I see a Salvation Army helper standing in brutally cold weather ringing the bell for donations, it comes back a little, especially considering what the money is for. It still doesn't match what you felt on Dec 1-24 as a child practically staring at the clock. All the advertisements and commercialism really kills it, because that shouldn't be the point.

Protip: Ignore what I said before about commercialism and pick up a few $5-10 children's gifts. Wrap them up and bring them to any number of places that will give them to kids who might not have a thing at all otherwise. As an adult without your own children, that's the closest you'll get to recapturing the spirit yourself.

Being born on December 23rd, even as a kid I never liked Xmas. It meant I never got to see friends on my birthday as they were all doing stuff with other people and occasionally, family forgot (Very big deal at ages 5, 7 and 10) and even had me doing yard work all day for a family friend on my 11th bday.

So yeah, never been fond of it really, the music doesn't help either.

Despite my above dislike of Xmas, I have done this each year since I left home, always makes me feel good and I get to see some smiles.

Im not too fond of it now due to the extreme commercialization and Ever since my Grandmother died 10 years ago christmas has sucked since she kinda held the family together, now it just reminds me of how much my family sucks now.

Sales, family and friends, holidays and Die Hard. My reasons to love Christmas have changed but I still love it.

Looks like we're all washed out by commercialism. No harm there, but don't get beaten by it. When people get old enough -- and even if they aren't particularly religious -- they start to understand it's use all over again. Just remember to keep things in perspective.

Maybe that's why my favorite seasonal flick is A Charlie Brown Christmas, because he wrestles with the nonsensical, exploitative edge of consumerism.

Yeah, I don't have a lot of excitement for Christmas any more. Half the time, there's nothing that I'm all that desperate to get hold of around Christmas, I get enough time to hang out with my family, and the amount of food that inevitably gets consumed... it gets old fast. The break from school used to be enough for me, but in final year of college with outdoor coastal fieldwork to catch up on at the start of the holiday, I don't even get much o that any more.

Halloween, now there's a holiday. Trick or treat has been replaced by costume parties, but who misses that? The parties are more fun, and there's always a strong chance that you'll take home something a lot better than sweets and junk food.:)

Eh, this is the first year I haven't been paticulary exited about Christmas. I've always gotten a smile out of seeing christmas decorations, or that kinda stuff, but now I don't even care. I'm totally burned out due to studying and such, which might could've been somewhat of the reason why, but still.

Yeah, I've kind of noticed this as well. To be fair, Christmas isn't exactly the most exciting thing at my family house. My dad's a miserable old bugger and my mam's usually tired from running exercise classes the night before so everyone's just generally quiet and placid. It's still something I enjoy but it's definitely not as exciting or magical anymore.

Not really asked for much. Never really did during my childhood either, I still get too much though I think.

Sure it's nice spending time with family but then again I HATE SNOW! so there is always that.... Fucking snow...

I find the off time from school and work great, but actual Christmas, whether it be Santa or Jesus centered, doesn't really work for me, Santa centered Christmas is the better option from the two, but i still don't find it all that great. It doesn't sound all that Christmas cheery, but the 2 weeks off from work and school + The Steam Christmas Sale are the best parts about Christmas.

I don't really care about Christmas anymore simply due to the fact that for the last four years it's been coming around way too frequently. I can't even be bothered to put out the little LED Christmas tree I brought a few years ago. I say we move it to every two years :D

I used to really like Christmas as a kid, as I guess most kids do. But when I started working in bars, I used to dread Christmas because every year everyone uses it as an excuse to get obnoxiously superdrunk and it just used to suck any and all Christmas spirit out of me so by Christmas day rolled around I was pretty numb to it. But now I don't work in bars anymore, I kinda enjoy it more now that I can get together and chill with friends.

Well usually...not this year though, I somehow managed to talk myself onto being on standby on Christmas eve and Christmas day.

You are never alone.

Since I got my first job, I knew I will be working during the Christmas holiday and I am totally fine with that. Normally on Boxing Day, me and family go to the city to go to this Chinese resturant for lunch and then me and my bro go shopping to spend our Christmas money and I not bother missing it out at all.

There is nothing I want to buy this year well in the shop (since online shopping is cheaper) and I'm not in a glutton mood to feel full during the shopping trip but I suppose it more of a personal issue with me (I'm more dreading to see my bro than to be excited for his return).

Christmas really is for kids. I live with my dad (it's a rented house and I pay my own way, thank you very much) and our plan this year is to go for a meal somewhere with my sister a few days before, then spend the actual day drinking and eating unhealthily.

So... not much different from an average weekend really.

Wow, it's kinda sad to see that Christmas has died off for so many people. I'm in my twenties and I still love it, and I didn't even get presents last year, and will probably not again this year. The atmosphere around Christmas time, i.e. the decorations, the music, the movies and specials, always get me in a good mood. Decorating my apartment and watching specials has been keeping me going since finals time has arrived. Without Christmas right now, my mood would be horrible. So ho ho freakin' ho and Merry Christmas you depressing internet strangers!
