who here regets the purchase of a wii

I don't regret buying a Wii at all. I play Super Smash Bros. Brawl almost every day, and on the days when I don't, I hit up Animal Crossing: City Folk. With Tatsunoko vs Capcom coming out soon, I'm pretty much guaranteed several more years of enjoyment.

That said, doesn't anyone play their games more than once anymore? Maybe it's because I grew up living thrifty (only getting new games on my birthday and Christmas), but paying $50/$60 for a game you only play through once seems like a horrible deal.

I don't regret it (though technically I got it as a gift for Christmas). Playing it will probably be the first thing I'll do when I come home from my first quarter of college. Plus, Cave Story is coming out for it, so that's a plus.

I got mine for chistmas a couple of years ago.
It was really fun whilst Twilight Princess was being played, but after finishing it there doesn't seem like there is much else thats engrossing.
Mario Galaxy was fun but didn't really keep me interested.
Haven't played it on a regular basis since early 2008

That said, doesn't anyone play their games more than once anymore? Maybe it's because I grew up living thrifty (only getting new games on my birthday and Christmas), but paying $50/$60 for a game you only play through once seems like a horrible deal.

I tend to play my games to death, largely because I don't like the idea of buying something marginal just to have something new---my game collection is all games I spent money on knowing I'd play for hundreds if not thousands of hours.

I honestly think she plays more Gamecube games on the thing than Wii titles. And we have a GC. So that's kind of sad.

We have 3 Gamecubes and we love the 'Cube, we bought a Wii and still only play 'Cube games (like Eternal Darkness, Skies Of Arcadia etc) and tbh I have taken to just getting the 'Cube out and playing on it, so our Wii isn't even being used for that.............
I am an optimist, so haven't traded it in, but compared to the 360's and all other gaming formats in our house the Wii might be the most neglected thing I have ever bought (and I used love the big N)I enjoy the DSi though

I don't own one, but a friend of mine does. He hadn't touched it in over a year, sold it and used the money to get a DSi. He hasn't regretted the decision once.

I know. I loved my Cube... Until I got a PS2, and now recently an Xbox. The GC really got shafted in the games library department. It doesn't help that the controller is pretty specialized, and works really well only on certain types of games, and horribly on others.

But it's built like a brick, it's Ford tough (yes, hate me for reminding you of those commercials!), it's extremely portable and those tiny discs tend not to get too scratched up in comparison to, say, PS2 discs (though if they do get scratched, it's kinda serious). Also, manual pop-top. I don't have to worry about that part breaking. Not to mention it's pretty easy to access the guts of the system if you do need to replace something.

There are maybe 2-3 Wii games I would seriously consider buying. I mean, I'll definitely buy Castle Shikigami 3 eventually, but other than that... I have no clue. Limited though it is, I definitely feel the GC's library is a lot stronger. And finally, the ultimate argument for why the GC is the superior system: Game Boy Player. Yeah, you know it. GC/GBA/GBC/GB games ALL on a single system, and I can buy the physical games rather than be forced to wait for Ninty to port them to VC. If they ever do. Some games (like most GBA games), probably are never getting ported.

I was fortunate to play on a Wii at a friend's place before wasting my money.

I can understand how it could appeal to families and casual gamers and for that it serves its purpose very well, but I prefer my games complex, tough and rewarding.

I also found the motion control to be a horrific chore, Resi 4 is godawful on the Wii.

We have a choice of consoles in our house (3 out of 5 are gamers, and I have high hopes that the baby will be a gamer, see my pic..) so tend to be aware of games available on them all. My most used consoles would be my PS2 (sadly do not have backwards compatible PS3) and my 360 as they have games I really want to play.
Yeah you are totally right about the toughness of GC discs, never had to use a disc repair on any 'Cube disc.
I am guessing you are referring to some commercial I haven't seen re toughness of Ford (I am in England) but my son's door fell off once onto his 'Cube a few years ago, result? On dented door, one intact GC!

Well I got mine for free, so I have nothing to regret and besides its only my brother who uses it. Although I will play the odd game of Mario Cart from time to time.

Yes and no.
Yes because after all the major titles such as Zelda, Mario & Metroid i haven't found any other games that really hold my interest long enough for me to call them a good game. The only thing i'm looking forward to now is the new Silent Hill release.
But on the other hand, no, because its nice to crack out all the Gamecube games again (seeing as my gamecube has a lovely habit of freezing on me, i HAVE to play them on the wii)
So i guess i'm still a little undecided on this.

If I had owned a SNES or Gamecube, I would have regretted it. Since I didn't, I've enjoyed it muchly. Gamecube games and Virtual Console galore!

I'm in this boat. Had many opportunities to pick one up (my wife offered on more then one occasion to allow me this purchase!), especially during the period where, every time a shipment was even suggested as possibly coming in, there was a lineup of at least 30 people to try to get them at the store...

About the only title that really tempted me early one was the new Trauma Center (I loved the first DS entry in that series).. In hindsight i'm glad i didn't give in, though, as i think my Trauma Center phase has passed (second entry on the DS bored me and i traded it in.)

To be honest, i still think i'd have issues with the whole concept of the way you play the thing. I dunno, i just feel like a goof waving my arms around like an idiot.

Course i haven't touched my 360, really, since "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" (Though i did pick up Dynasty Warriors 6 used, and played it briefly)..


My PC gets all my love right now, with Left 4 Dead and WoW....Any other gaming time is taken up by my DS (which also has had some dry periods in between worthwhile titles.)
