George Carlin, the guy was not afraid of saying something because it would cause some kind of controversy. He was funny and knew how to look at things from a nonstandard perspective.

I'm gonna have to go with this. Also Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens, although I may not aggree with every single opinion of the latter.
RIP George Carlin. I think he's down there now, screaming up at us :D

One of my physics teachers, one of my maths teachers and a music teacher at my school. Also, my brother, although I'd never say that to his face, and various people from the year above, particularly a trumpet playing physicist, like me. Oh and a few of my friends, one of whom is probably the smartest in the year.

For me, respect must be earnt but if your better than me at maths/physics/music then you've got a head start.

I really do think that Stephen Colbert is an incredibly smart person and, therefore, his opinion definitely matters.
On Escapist, that would be Neon and Furb. Oh, and Hub. And TheNumber17Zero. And Onyx. And...

My Troop Sergeant and the Company Sergeant Major...oh, also the Brigade Sergeant Major.

Let me put it frankly, folks, if you don't Admire/ Respect/ Always Listen To The Opinions Off any of these people no matter whether you're in the Royal Marines, the US Army or the bloody postal battalion of the logistics corps - you're getting your arse thoroughly handed to you on a plate with a rifle stuck up it.

My Mother and My old Boxing Coach.

My Mama: She and I have been through so much together and she has never led me astray. Even when I was at my worst she stood firm. Her love and her steady hand guided me through some of my most difficult times. I am so grateful to have been blessed with a parent like her.

My Coach: He is the last of my mentors that are still alive, and he is still one of the best. He taught me not just how to dance in the ring and how to deliver the goods, he also taught me what respect and courage really were.

I occasionally have a substitute teacher who is very smart, he praised me for being one of the only kids to be able to do easy college math. He was very wise and asked me for help with the class (since a few people act like jackasses whenever there was a sub), I respect him for being wise, determined, and not afraid to ask for assistance.

At work on the radio project, I always listen to the counsel of my director, who has about 35 years' more experience in theater, radio, and film than I do. Ditto my team's head writer and sound effects guy. I often say "I'm just a cat herder. As long as all my department heads report in and make deadline, you guys have complete creative freedom."

At school, I heed the counsel of people in the business department; they have forgotten more than I will ever know about accounting and management.

Outside of that? Confucius, Shakespeare, and H.L. Mencken can reliably be counted upon.

I admire Barack Obama for pulling off two impossible feats in the past three years. The first was getting elected President of the United States while being not white, and the second was the health care thing. He's a goddamn sorcerer.

My cousin, he is a down to earth person with a list of awesome accomplishments under his belt, so I try to follow his footsteps (I even go to the same college that he does).

I don't automatically listen to the opinions of anyone.

But I respect anyone who earns my respect, and I admire myself.
Pretty much. But I also admire both my parents. I also have respect for most of my teachers for the way they manage to learn something they loved and teach it to others day in and day out but have no issues with their job (or if they do hide it for the sake of the students). I also have respect for sports referees because of the abuse they have to deal with every match (I myself have been known to hurtle abuse at them if I feel they're not doing as well as they should).
