Samus. Silent, confident, and has a mounted wrist blaster. She's a great protagonist.
But isn't she a bounty hunter?
I guess you're right, but she fits the profile of a space marine. Futuristic suit, laser weapon, that sort of thing. That's good enough for me.

The guy from Doom, duh. He single-handedly defeated Hell's minions and saved the Earth, although he did lose his pet bunny.

i like marcus fenix. i don't think that he has ever been in space but he does kick locust ass (and head) and the locust are considered aliens.

Hmm..IMHo it's a toss up between the Grey Knights and Space Wolves, but that is just my favouritism speaking.

The Emperor might not be a Space Marine, but he can sic them on you. Thats gotta count for something.

Man, I dunno if I'd go with...

Colonel O'Neill- "In the middle of my BACKSWING!?" Best. Episode. Ever.
Master Chief- 'nough said. Sergeant Johnson isn't half-bad either.
Han Solo- He was, actually.

I'm not sure if mega man is a marine, but he does fly around space absorbing the souls of those he slaughters... that's pretty bad ass

Doom Guy (If you want to believe the doom novel series his name is actually Flynn Taggart, and for the events of Doom 1 is a lance corporal (E-4 pay grade, if he was Army he would be a specialist or, if laterally promoted into a leadership position a corporal)

Commander Shepard, but if Samus Aran counts then Samus
Samus Aran is an unaffiliated bounty hunter - at best a soldier of fortune. Assuming the military ranks transfer from modern day into the Mass Effect universe, Shepard is actually Navy (Commander is rank 0-5, Army/Navy/Marine rank is Lt. Colonel)

Samus may be a bounty hunter, but she seems to work exclusively for the Galactic Federation, is dispatched on landing missions from GF ships, and supports GF marines. i'd say she counts as a paramilitary.

Sera's a colony, so it's likely the COGs are marines too. the COLE TRAIN kicks far more locust ass though.

I'll be "that guy." Master Chief.
I'll say Master Chief, but the MC from the German version of the original Halo for the PC. The German voice actor actually makes the MC sound like a real soldier, not a copped-up, George Thorogood-sounding, badass, space cowboy who spews ice-cold one-liners every time he gets a close-up on his nonexistent face.

So there. *win*

So, No. Ripley is not a Space Marine.... but is harder than all of them!
People keep saying this. And while i understand the theory behind it i really cannot see how a woman dumped into a shit-hole of a situation is more impressive than the 40K marines, who have chainsaw-swords. The sentiment is nice, but there's character and then there's marine-ness.
So... riding a cargo powerloader and beating a twelve-foot alien to death with it isn't 'marine' enough for you?
