Who is the most powerful Superhero? - Can't seem to trump Silver Age Superman

Agreed, Goku is the clear winner. Superman wishes.

The big problem with that, is that goku is an idiot. He wouldn't bother to think that to beat superman he would have to use kryptonite. He'd get confused as to why he couldn't just beat superman into oblivion, and would just keep trying to do so. Eventually he would tire, but superman would not, and after fighting at an incredible level for an extended period of time, goku's power would run out, and then he'd get his ass beat. Superman wins that too.

Actually no, it's already been proven via comics that Superman CAN be beaten to death. Literally. Death of Superman folks. Superman and Doomsday literally beat each other to death. It doesn't take kryptonite. Just someone really really strong and really really tough. IE. Goku.

Superman didn't actually die and was back in a relatively short space of time. He was badly beaten though and yes Superman could theoretically just be pummelled to death by a bigger bad guy (Darkseid). Also I think Doomsday had shards of Krypton in him didn't he? He was definitely from Krypton.

He did die. The comic he dies in is even called "The Death Of Superman." After his death 4 other superman esque emerged.

The Man of Steel- Superman meets Iron Man.
Metroplis Kid- A teenage clone of Superman.
The man of Tommorrow-Cyborg Superman.
and The last son of Kyrpton- An Alien who dealt with Criminals in a leathel manner. He then turned out to be the Eradicator.

The Last son stole Supermans body and put it back in a regenerative matrix. Which eventually revived him.

With the power of a million exploding suns, this hero is overkill. He's effortlessly beaten people who can slice planets in half, and has never shown his full power. I think that says it all.

I'm not actually familiar with Rebirth. Is the super-powered Green Lantern a villain? Because the rules are 1) Super HERO and 2) normal continuity.

Been there. Sentry lost to Hulk, Hulk lost to Superman. Regardless of what his advertising bunk says Sentry lost to the Hulk. I think basically the Sentry is more powerful but can't actually control it usefully.

Dr Strange is simply a man ... with a lot of power ... he doesn't have the raw power and speed of Superman. After all Dr Strange has only human speed reactions, it would be difficult for him to cast a spell before he is rendered unconscious.

But again, these are all good suggestions! I'm just trying to expand past Silver Age Superman who could travel time and survive the heart of the Sun.

The problem with DBZ is that there were just retarted jumps in power for goku. Any time travelling superman could go back to when goku when just 800PL and whoop him, he could kill the others easy making sure they can't get the dragonballs and wish his anime ass back into existence.

He can run through time, dimensions, walk through objects, turn invisible. He just wins.

Disallowing Dr Manhattan on the basis he's not a hero, in any shape or form, for the vast majority of the book. He's a superhero for a few years, then goes into seclusion for the army, then leaves for Mars... He doesn't actually intervene in any particular way in the story.

While it's your topic, your rules, just because Dr.M got sad after he killed his closest friends and didn't do anything until the end doesn't make him not a hero. If Superman got bored with being a reporter and said "Screw this I'm going to fly to mars and build a new fortress of solitude" that wouldn't discount him as a hero. Since you can choose superheroes from the past (i.e. Silver age Superman) I will choose Vietnam era Dr. Manhattan.

As I said your topic your rules so my second choice is Green Lantern.
