Now then, I'm not going to argue that it's has been a bad choice to make MC "stroic character". It works. He shoots the aliens just as same. Now think about it. We could've replaces the main character of the whole game with any faceless gun wielding space marine wannabie and it wouldn't have made the game any different. I think that's a pretty good deffinition to a useless game character.
Either your sister from Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, or Ashley from RE4. Although, I must admit, the level where you play as her was very scary and fun.

Im gonna say Sonic the Hedgehog...in most sonic games but especially SONIC HEROES.
There isn't a single thing that sonic has been able to do within the games that knuckles and tails havnt been able to match and better,his speed difference between the other characters is only really emphasised in comics and things. I mean for petesake even shadow had guns, the only thing that sonic has gained is a more than sickening american accent...
