Since I can't decide on whos my favorite video game badass, I'll just list my favorite badasses from my favorite games. Here goes:
DMC- Vergil
Mass Effect- 4-way tie between Wrex, Grunt, Garrus, and Thane
KOTOR- HK-47
Jade Empire- Black Whirlwind
Dynasty Warriors series- Do I need to say this? Lu Bu obviously
Samurai Warriors- Keiji Maeda. Pretty much like Lu Bu. Tadakatsu from SW2 is pretty cool too
Gears of War- Cole
That's about all I've got off the top of my head.

If you play any dynasty warriors game, and Lu-Bu comes into the battle, you might aswell quit, because Lu-Bu will come knocking and he will rape your life bar with his overpowered moves.
I remember the first battle I ever met him at Hu Lao Gate... damn I was not prepared for that.
I think Kratos deserves an honerable mention, i mean he did kill a Justice League of Greek Gods.
Freeman isn't a bad character.....he ISN'T a character. As you say, he has no personality, no depth, no voice. He could be killing a stryder one minute and walking into a wall like a moron the next, so he has no consistency. He only has some tacked on, arbitrary history that doesn't even make sense (or DO all MIT graduates know how to shoot RPG's from the word go?) He's a boot to fill....Atmos Duality said:

The Grey Fox. I'm not talking about mild mannered Count Corvus. I'm talking about the guy who mysteriously shows up and fires an arrow through the head of any person who is mean to my character in oblivion.
He started with an automatic 500septims bounty. That quickly escalated to over 300,000septims bounty.

Wet's Rubi Malone, for being able to wall run off an enemy guard and shoot him in the face. Like to see Bayonetta go up against her, seeing how far an outfit made out of her pubic hair gets her when her face is being sandwiched between the floor and a huge pair of Doc Martins.
Headcrabs. Just because they can't take down Gordan Freeman doesn't take away the badass card. They took down Black Mesa, they took down City 17, and I have a feeling we will be seeing Lamar taking down GLaDos.
