Speaking of the brilliance that is Squirrel Girl, I'm reminded of the msot useless member of the Great Lakes Avengers: Leather Boy.

Leather Boy was man who wore tight leather pants and joined the greate Lakes adventurers after misunderstanding the ad their leader placed for a "costumed adventurer, willing to seek strength, power and pleasure for the greater good." Yes, you heard me right. This man had no powers, and was in bondage gear. Wore the same hat as the leather-clad guy from the Village People, though.

This guy, [link]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starfox_(comic_character)[/link] beats them all. his power is and I quote "Starfox can stimulate the pleasure centers in people's brains". and he freaking looks like a douchebag. you can't find a worse superhero.
Oh. My. Giddy. Aunt. He's like a worse version of the Comedian, with only mediocrity instead of amorality. And what's worse is his hair and his face, would normally cause me to break it in with my fist were I not a Tezukan ethics guy. I never heard of this hero before but he ranks immediately with every douche I ever used to go to high school with in terms of unlikability. He seems like the kind of dude who would steal your girlfriend and then panic when he was found out.

Another dodgy beyond recognition superhero is Power Girl. What does she do exactly instead of be used as a vehicle for big breast jokes with Wonder Woman used in conjunction with the "Comedy". Seriously, it might have been funny the first time I saw that in a Superman/Batman comic or something, but it's not something to be used too often, or by too many writers. When will busty superheroines be measured not by the size of their rack but by the content of their character?

How can anyone say Superman? Seriously, Superman isn't some sort of tool for drama, he doesn't fly around fighting crooks with guns, he fights the big guys who can, in fact, fight back.

Superman isn't a tortured vigilante. He's the embodiment of what the super hero is. Kind, compassionate, able to take down his enemies without killing them. When you see Superman, you're not supposed to say "Oh God! The perp has a gun! How will you get out of this Superman?" You're supposed to say "Hell yeah! Superman's about to break that guy!"

Besides, need I remind you that Doomsday beat Superman to death? In recent years, Superman has been facing bigger and bigger foes, he doesn't just swoop in and take care of the bad guys, he fights with all he can with or without the League with him. From the looks of some of these posts, you're asking comic writers to have Superman shot while foiling a bank robbery.

Oh, and to first poster, Captain America may be a Super Soldier, but he's still human. If you shoot him in the neck, he'll die. The fact that he died saving a nameless civilian makes it all that more awesome.

Sarcastro! He fights crime with the razor sharp sting of sarcasm!

Best.power.EVER!

Although,i used to think Cyclops was pretty pathetic.

Interestingly, theres a DC superhero called "Slipknot" who's power was Mastery of ropes, use of unbreakable ropes.

.....

Underwhelmed much?

If you think i'm joking look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slipknot_(comics)

Why doesn't someone just shoot superman with a kryptonite bullet, obviously it would have to fly faster than the speed of sound or he would hear it coming but surely that would work.

The worst I can think of atm is Bananaman.
Bananaman was hilarious.

Personally, I think the Blue Beetle has to be the worst, followed closely by Milk & Cheese.

Ted Kord was basically a less angsty Batman and Jaime Reyes wears shape shifting sentient battle armor. How can either of them be worse than the *legitimate* answers in here?

I am sorry if this has been said but the worst superhero of all time is easily Mr A. The reason behind why i think he is the worst is that he couldn't see that some people are forced to make tough decisions, for example if someone kidknapped your family and you had to steal something to save them then he would show you no sympathy, basically in his view the world is black and white, grey areas don't exist. Also his name isn't any good.

Waaaaaay back when I was reading DC comics, Blue Beetle was an utter moron who screwed up everything he attempted. He didn't have any kind of sentient battle armour, just wings, blue spandex and a bug-head helmet.

I have no idea who ted kord or jaime reyes are, I'm guessing recent incarnations?

Also, batman wasn't angsty back then either. He was pretty damn hardcore. Cold, efficient and brilliant, if a little camp. Only time I can really remember him getting angsty was after joker beat (the 3rd?) robin to death with a crowbar.

[Edit] Actually, it wasn't even really a helmet. Was more like a spandex hood with big orange goggles and funny antennas (antennae?).

When were you reading your comics? The 1940's? Ted was the Blue Beetle for 40 years, and in 06' we got Jaime.

Superman and Batman are both pretty lame. Their victories are always deus ex machinas, or in other words, "they win because we said so."

Superman's a dick and Batman is an emo ***** with lots of inheritance money to build his gadgets with.

The Punisher is way cooler than either of them.

Mr. A was created by Steve Ditko (aka, Spider-Man, The Question, etc). He was big on objectivism.

Captain America is the superhero to superhereos.

Action League Now!
The Flesh: He's super strong and super naked
Thunder girl: She flies like thunder
Stinky Diver: a former navy commando with an attitude as bad as his oder
and Melt man: with the power to MELT!

The worst superhero has to be...Aquaman mostly because he doesn't do anything.
