We all like a well fleshed out villain in our favorite movies, games, comics and books. Personally, while it may not be the main bad guy, i think grave mind from the halo universe has one of the best speeches in my short career as a gamer for any villain. Anyway, who is your villain of choice.

Suzaku from Code Geass, i hate his self righteous, hypocritical guts but damn he's a good antagonist.

Also Manfred Von Karma from Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, simply because he does not give you an inch.

The majority of the first trial day is just Phoenix trying to find that first little hole in the witness' testimony for god's sake.

Either Tomoya's dad from Clannad and Clannad After Story for not actually being a bad person, or Shishio Makoto from Rurouno Kenshin for being an incredibly evil person.

Blackbeard from One Piece.
He can be quite funny and interesting but at the same time ruthless and psychotic. He also has a awesome power and while he didn't fight Whitebeard in a fair fight but using his crew to take him down was awesome as in gangster style!

Hmm...

It's most likely a tie between Saren from Mass Effect 1 and Kuja from Final Fantasy 9.

Ha Discord. Yes, best bad guy ever.

OP: If I had to choose another though I gotta go with The Boss from MGS 3 as she is absolutely badass but most importanty she doesnt just wait at the end of the game for Snake but actively fights him throughout the game. A good villain has to be threataning, interesting and not just straight up "I AM EVIL BECUZ GAEM SAY SO".

Nobody sees themselves as evil.

Antagonists who aren't actually evil. So, Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Sōichirō Mikuni from C: the money of soul and possibility, Light from Death Note. Though the sociopaths can be pretty chilling, so Vincent from Pandora Hearts and Morganna from .Hack//sign.

The Illusive Man is probably my favourite from games; an antagonist I am forced the work with, completely ruthless and doing great evil for what he sees as the greater good.

Aku from Samurai Jack was always a favorite of mine. He was an evil bastard, every time Jack got close to finding a way back to his own time Aku would show up and snatch victory away at the last second.

Light is the protagonist.
L is his antagonist.

I was going to say L for this thread.

Well, an antagonist , and I quote from Webster "one that contends with or opposes another" and sites the term "Adversary" as a synonym. However, in fictional terms, antagonist usually refers to a person, organization, deity, etc. that gets in the way of the protagonist.

Now a protagonist is
" a : the principal character in a literary work (as a drama or story)
b : a leading actor, character, or participant in a literary work or real event"

By these definitions, a protagonist and an antagonist are not necessarily good or evil; as with the example of Death Note. Light isn't exactly a saint, but he's the main character. L gets in the way of Light's motivations and is thus, an antagonist. However, what distinguishes L from all the others that combat Light's cause is that he is the primary force opposing Light.

Now, to answer your question, I would say that, for a time, Vegeta could count for an arc or two; but he is not the main antagonist of DBZ.

However, this could also be contested by saying that like most Shonen series, Dragon Ball Z goes through several antagonists before ending. I would consider Cell or Freiza to be more of an antagonist. Then again, Vegeta is a complicated character, so one's interpretations could be swayed either way.

Now, for the sake of simplicity, I would say, Yes; Vegeta is an antagonist, one of many in a long series.

I love villains who are just plain insane, they have either no reason or a very odd one. To me someone like that who's unpredictable is terrfying. Plus nine times out of ten they're having the most fun with everything.Examples(I've seen) would be Kefka, the Joker, and Ladd Russo if he counts as a villain

Arthas from Warcraft 3. Made all the more poignant because you played him for half of the entire game as the protagonist.
