Agh, no. They are not Creed. They are very different. If you didn't know the members were from Creed, and just listened to the music, you'd never guess. Trust me, I HATE Creed but adore Alter Bridge. Give 'em a shot. They're amazing.
You're talking about the same guys who thought Scott Stapp was a good frontman right?

Well, not now! They hate him. Lets, see Mark Tremonti said that even if Creed got into the Hall of Fame he would still never perform with Stapp again. The bandmembers have said on multiple occasions this is a new start for them, from the hell that was creed. They don't market themselves as new creed or anything, even tough they would get tons of cash for it. They just make music and let it stand for itself. Its all the prick creed haters who won't let creed die that keep comparing them.

Sorry, I didn't get all of that. I literally blacked out after seeing "Creed" and "Hall of Fame" in the same sentence.

Really? Come on. No one actually believes Creed of all bands is going to get into the hall of fame. Mark is just saying, even for that incredible honor, he would STILL never ever perform with Stapp. Thats how much he hates him.

All right, all right. I'll stop pullin' your chain. But I dislike Alter Bridge as well. I'm not really into the 'power rock'.

Back into Jimi Hendrix, wonder what today would be like if he was still alive?

I was first into mainstream music, then I became a metal head but as soon as I heard stuff like Black Sabbath and The Rolling Stones, it blew my mind!

Usually for everyone else it's the other way around.

If that's what you'd call Slayer, Suicide Silence, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Born of Osiris, then yes.

Three-way tie between Aerosmith, Nirvana and Bon Jovi. They've got the sound AND the lyrics.

Springsteen, always.

Seasick Steve used to 'bo around, and is probably America's greatest living Bluesman. If anyone wants to prove me wrong, PM me, I'd be happy to hear someone better!

The Weakerthans. *They* are my favourite lyricists ever. A song from the point of view of a depressed person's cat? Genius. In fact, it sounds pretentious there. But it is in fact hilarious
"We should open up the house/ Invite the tabby two doors down/ You can ask your sister if/ She doesn't bring her Basset Hound"

Gaslight Anthem. I read a load of reviews saying that they were the punk Springsteen. That made me angry, and they only sya it because they reference him a load of times, and quote him as an influence. Their new album, the 59 sound, is more like Hot Fuss, but good, and punkier.

My top three:
1. Freedom Call
2. Helloween
3. Sonata Arctica (saw them live last night... unbelievable)

Since Rush is a hot topic in this thread, let me speak for the non-fans: I won't deny that the Rush guys are all immensely talented musicians. I just don't like the particular sound they've chosen to make their own.

I really don't like Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Oasis, or Coldplay. I won't criticize anyone who does like them, but I really can't find it in my heart to enjoy any of their music. Unfortunately, almost everyone I meet is in love with at least one of those four, so music is always a touchy subject when people talk to me.
