Leon;

I just think he's cool, relaxed and he's got a great posture! or something along those lines. Anyways.

Well there is a small list.

JC Denton, even though he was running around being a pawn for one group or other, was fun and he felt fairly 'real', given the technology at the time, the writing held everything together.

Also from Deus Ex was Walton Simons and Bob Page, simply because they were convincing characters. Also, most of the well-written parts in Deus Ex. How about I just say Deus Ex.

Pretty much all of the characters in the Baldur's Gate series were excellent and their added banter and interjection at key moments made them, again, feel more real than anything this side of the uncanny vally that games typically think is 'reality' today.

Specifically, Jon Irenicus was an awesome, if not the single most awesome villain I have had the pleasure to vie against in a game, pretty much ever.

Half Life and HL2's Gman is pretty interesting as a character, but then HL2's characters are all very well written and presented. Alyx Vance is probably the most compelling and lovable character from an FPS or just about any game in recent memory.

I agree with this. I love that he spouts lines of great doofiness and never realizes that everyone thinks he's kinda an idiot.

Also, despite being an adorable idiot, he manages to be in all the best RE games.

OT: Also Saren Arterius. 'Cuz come on people, the only reason you romanced Garrus in ME2 was because you couldn't get with Saren. Admit it.

Jak, from the Jak and Daxter series. It seems sad that he's one of the few characters you get to watch develop during the series.

Uhhh....
I can never pick favourites ._.
So I'll go with Ratchet, Jak, and Raz. Because they were the first that came to mind.

Either Strelok from S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or thatguywho'snameIdon'tremember from Penumbra, because he seems like a realistic kind of character, he's disturbed by the same things as a regular person is and points it out in an ironic way, considering his surroundings.

Alistair from Dragon Age

I want to be him......

[sub] [sub] Is that a stupid thing to say? [/sub] [/sub]
If you were in my profile, yes. I always sacrifice Alistair, since I find giving Morrigan what she wants a bit... well, morally questionable and dieing myself just stupid. Ofcource, I would rather use Loghain, but since Alistair gets really pissed off about my decision, I think it's only fair that he dies. I mean cmon, he is the elder warden. It's his job to command me. Then he is like meh, you do it. Then he complains about all the decisions I make.

My favorite character must be renegade Shepard from Mass Effect. Because he is a good role model:

Oh my. So many possibilities, here. Let's see...

My all-time favorite 100% Love You Forever gaming character would have to be...

*drumroll*

MINSK! COME ON DOOOWWWN!

The man is a ranger/fighter who recognizes his own lack of intelligence and still manages to kick ass, take names, and do Right in the world. And he has the greatest animal companion ever, the Miniature Giant Space Hamster known affectionately by one and all as Boo. GO FOR THE EYES, BOO! GO FOR THE EYESSSSS!

There are, of course, several honorable mentions that must be addressed.

Jim Raynor and Kerrigan from the Star Craft series.
-"Call me Jimmy."

Caleb, of the Blood series.
-"When you get to Hell, tell 'em I sent you. You'll get a discount."

Pretty much every other character from the Baldur's Gate series.
-"We're all going to die..."

Pretty much every character from the Mass Effect series.
-"I am the very model of a scientist Salarian..."

GLADOS from Portal.
-"This was a triumph..."

The Postal Dude, from Postal 2.
-"You've gotta be f@#$ing kidding."

Dev/Null, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption.
-"Real life? The life of Rhea? I loathe real life...whatever that is. I sacrifice it on the altar of my altered state! Or was that the life of Rhea? Or her sister? Or her cousin? I forget..."

Edit: One more that demanded I add him, or he'd make all of my valuables vanish and beat me over the head.

Garret, the Thief series.
-"The Jacknall's Paw. Well, I guess he doesn't need it anymore."

There's so many more, but this post is getting long enough as it is. To all those epic, memorable video game characters I missed, I salute you!

I'd have to say Zidane from Final Fantasy 9. It is so nice being able to actually relate to the main character for one time in a Final Fantasy.

Barrett Wallace from FF7 for overall. I loved his character, his story, and his theme song.

Orthopox from Destroy All Humans for his voice.

Beatrix from FF9 has one of my favorite theme songs ever. It ridiculously simple to play but still has a lot of depth in context.
