Who is your favorite Star Trek character?

I was randomly watching TV until I decided to give Star Trek a change to see if I liked it or not. I became a fan after seeing a hilarious episode starring Data. He is such a loveable character.
For the sake of things I might as well throw in my favouite Captain.
In centuries gone by a nickname for a doctor was "old sawbones", for obvious, if slightly gruesome, reasons. This ended up being shortened to just "bones" and they used it for the character of McCoy. Maybe this didn't translate into German very well!Piorn said:

Tough call. I really like Scotty but Bones... Got to go with McCoy.

They actually address it a few times, and in some alternate and forward universe they did.
