Seriously. Duke Nukem Forever. It might actually come out this time.
In all absolute honesty, who ISN'T going to buy it? I mean, it's Duke Nukem Forever. Even if it sucks, it's the embodiment of many, many gaming jokes and has been "in the making" for 13 years.

I think everybody is gonna buy it, even if it's rated AO.

I am not a fan. I played one years ago, and it just wasn't fun.

I will not be buying this.

I never actually played Duke Nukem so I wouldn't get it just because its Duke Nukem. But from the trailers I've seen it looks like a good game and I might consider getting it.

I think if I hear the debate of "Duke Nukem MIGHT actually come out this time" one more time I'm going to hunt down Stallone and go Rambo on someone's ass. It's got a demo and a release date is coming out. It's happening, please stop arguing.

No, ADULTS will buy it. it's illegal to sell an Adults Only game to anyone under the age of 18 in Canada. If mommy wants to buy it for junior, great! Not his problem. But not EVERYONE will buy it.

Nah, I never really "got it". The games were fun before, but nothing I really have much nostalgia for. Just not really my thing.

Oh yes you will.
Nope. It has no appeal for me, it's only saving grace is comedy factor, and that just don't mix well with a FPS in my eyes.

Now excuse me while I prepare a place for my soon to be 'decaying corpse'.

: )

I'm with you on this one. It was a fairly standard shooter.

The only reason people are so hyped by it is how ridiculously long it's been in development for. I can guarantee that a few days after launch these forums will be full of people yelling "OMG Duke Nukem sucks we waited so long and it wasn't good enough" because after such a long wait the only way for it to live up to the ri-god-damn-diculous expectations is if Gearbox send a lingerie model to your house to suck you off while you play it.

I'm not buying it, I don't care. Good luck to those who do, I hope you enjoy it, but I'm not wasting my time on something I probably won't enjoy.

I hold no loyalty to the Duke. He has to get solid reviews, put out an ad campaign that grabs my attention, and make me feel that his game is worth 60 hard earned American dollars. Just like every other game.

Neither of your points grants this game a good future.
Duke Nukem Forever has, indeed, been a meme for the past decade or so. But what if the game is not anywehre near special, and just ends up on the pile called: "generic-first-person-shooter"? Like many other FPS that claim to reimburse the concept with many a idea and still look and, most of all, feel the same.
Does being a meme, contribute to the fact that people should buy it? I'm sure there's plenty of people out there, thoroughly enjoying the Meme, but Could not care less about an actual purchase. And the amount that will check out the 'meme of the decade' will buy the game later on, after several discounts been given, or when it's actually in the 'bin' of 2 for 10$. - People who like the Chuck Norris meme do not necessarily have to be fans of his movies/work?
"in the making", well, you know this is not true, but I do like the idea behind it, and think it actually took them this long :)

Now by no means, think this is a personal attack. Because I am not a fan of the franchise. I Do play FPS though.

OT:
Hm, I am not a hype-follower. And I do not have ever had this feeling that I am missing out on the influence that this game has on many around the globe. So, No I am not planning on dishing out 60$ for this.

I'm not saying the game will be good. Oh heavens, no. It will never be worth the 13 years of wait. I'm just saying, everybody should buy it.

I won't be getting it if the articles about it are any indication.

I'm glad games have become a (teensy-tiny) bit more mature since the days when DN was cool. I really don't have any desire to play a game that's been basically brought over from the 90's and given a graphics polish.

There's a reason gaming's moved on.

i'll probably be getting it, but not for a while after it comes out because since there has been the ridiculous 13 year wait and so much hype about it, the price for this will probably be insane.i'll simply wait till the predicted price goes down.
