I don't know...I really didn't like oblivion but if this uses a different engine I might check it out

I marginally enjoyed Oblivion, but hated Morrowind. Loved Fallout 3 though. For me Bethesdas games have just gotten better as they've been released, so I'm pretty excited about Skyrim.

I didn't like any of the other ones, why should a new one excite me? I guess I'm not really into RPGs.

I don't think the excitement has hit me yet, but I am more excited for this game than any game ever before.

I'm confused. If you people didn't like Oblivion, what game were you playing that replaced it? It's the only game that even attempts to do what it does, and I for one think that it does a damn good job.
that's like saying you need a triangle shaped hole filled, and you realize that the rather nicely made fancy square block will not be able to fill it, so you should just go out and look for a nicer square block.

Anyway, meh. I do not have strong feelings one way or another.
Um... actually it's like saying that Bethesda are the only developers that even attempt to do what they do, and they do a good job.

I am pretty damn excited about it, but it would be very nice if they gave some variation in the voices of townsfolk, it kinda creeped me out when a beggar decided to talk like some high class person in oblivion. Also, the new engine sounds awesome

Are they going to make the characters look less like potatoes this time?

More seriously, I'll probably wait on this one.
they are touting a new engine that will focus on character animations more and make people look more human.

[small]six years and only one to go! cant wait![/small]

Oblivion was possibly my fav game of all time, just above mgs3 and FF7. Tried Morrowwind but turned it off within 10 mins because it was just too good for my PC. I hope they have more voice actors, combat could be improved, but not that fussed, and please, PLEASE..Can we fight a Dragon :(

Oh, and some horses that move less like horse shaped bricks

Edit: Oh, and it's a midnight buy for me :)

I'm not, it's never interested me. More of a sci-fi person myself, that might explain why...

yupp definitly ready, morrowind was mehhh to me, i didn't quite get into it, i did like oblivion quite a bit, at least the guild stuff was pretty awesome

i think its definitly the right time for it to come out, people are getting anxious for a new medieval like rpg to sink their teeth into, so if its even fairly decent then im sure it'll do amazingly, especially in the modding department

Say what? Oblivion was one of three "open-world RPGs" released in the 2005-2006 window: Oblivion, Gothic 3, and Two Worlds. Disregarding respective quality, they are pretty darn similar. True, they each went about making an open-world fantasy RPG in a different way - but they had the same core principles behind them.

Why do so many people in this tread not like Oblivion?! Oblivion was a gaming masterpiece!
I agree with this, Oblivion seems to be hated a lot, and I have no idea why.
Uh... I think it's because this thread was specifically designed for people who don't like Oblivion to chime in. It's a matter of concentration, not overall opinion.

At first I was happy, but not too excited.

Then they said they wouldn't be using the Gamebryo engine.

Now I'm super-duper excited.
This is exactly how I feel.

To answer the OP's question, old people, many girls, and guys who don't play any games other than Madden or CoD.

I am disappointed with it taking place in Skyrim, not that I think it will turn out badly, but I think somewhere else could have been a better choice. Also, now that they're going to move to a new engine, and hopefully have gotten a gauge as to what needs improvement/changes, things will turn out better for all of us.

I, for one, am looking forward to it.
