I like Stoner metal, industrial (the more organic side, not the programmed stuff), and shoegaze metal.

Sabbath, Maiden, Priest, Metallica.

I agree about the first three, but switch Metallica with Motörhead.
Metallica was formed in '81 so they're not much of a "pillar", though they did inspire a lot of new bands, they're not worth all the credit they're getting.

Electric Wizard should not be known by everyone, they're meant to stay underground, where they're respected.

i am a die hard metal fan, i am just wondering who else hear on the escapist loves metal

This is a bit like coming here asking "so who likes computer games, then?".

I was a metalhead when I was a teenager, but the second I discovered Merzbow, Whitehouse and Sutcliffe Jugend I realised that metal was not going to cut it for me as an adult, I needed something harder. So I guess metal was my "gateway" music into power electronics.

These days I consume metal like other people consume easy listening music. I might put it on occasionally if I have some housework to do, or if I just want something nice on in the background, but I don't really give it my undivided attention.

I like Motorhead and Metallica, but this rule was created by Dee Snider, and no one is allowed to argue with Dee Snider or he will suck your brain out through a straw.

I wonder if he would suck my brain out with a straw if i would've mentioned TS instead.
