Who likes to just sit back and make a character or two?

So since I have played the game Final Fantasy 3 I have had a "addiction" to creating characters in RPG's. For some reason I fined this just as or more fun than actually playing the game. I prefer to sit back and create a character in Oblivion for half an hour then go in role play a bit then create another one.

One time I even fined a cool glitch doing it in Oblivion. First I started by making a character that was pure athletic ability. I trained only his speed and whatever made him jump high and I figured out how to get over then out of a town with a castle wall around it without the game loading. Making the outside world... very weird, unless falling fifty feet in to water is normal.

Any cool characters you guys have made and who else fancies the character creation part of games just as much as the games? If so what game do you think has a really in depth character creator?

i do tend to enjoy making fresh characters/new games. maybe its because its the easiest part of any game so its really casual and non-stressful and therefore fun. just playing around with new characters.

I love excessive character creation. Hell, I still play wrestling games solely for the ability to create characters. Character creation just fits in perfectly with my perfectionistic personality.

Same here. The more options character creation has, the longer I'll play it, no matter what it is. I've actually used Soul Calibur III to design what some characters in my stories look like.

Depending on the tone of the game I'll just make them into monsters. In saints row. I pretty much had a naked oompa loompa running around. I played soul calibur 4 like 5 times longer than I would have otherwise just so I could make guys

I know this is incredibly silly however since Yahtzee compared Saints Row 2 as a super villian simulator I have made every character with a super villain of my own creation in mind.

I must've used the character creator in Fallout 3 a billion times by now. I love making a new character.

Whenever a game gives me the option to a character creator, I fuck it up. Well most of the time I fuck it up. When I play Oblivion and Saint Row, usually I'm running around as a black midget with an afro, because it amuses me. But when I take games seriously such as Mass Effect or Fallout 3, I make my character cool looking.

I somewhat like playing character creator when it feels like I can do something and make characters that don't look ugly as hell. Which is rare; very, very rare.

I have created more vaultdwellers than I care to remember, I find creating new personas destressing. same with WOW avatars and champions of cyrodiil.

I used to love wrestling games for this.

You could spend hours and hours creating the look of your character, and then going on to make them have all your favourite wrestlers moves and taunts. Great fun.

I do also do this for RPGs as well, and MMORPGs, when I (rarely) play them. It's great creating some sort of freak monster, just for the laugh factor.

I enjoy it but it can mean I play the beginning of a game way too many times, especially with BioWare, cos what the hell is their obsession with nostrils :-O Seriously why do all their nose point up so you can 'see', right up there, it really bugs me. And you can make a character that looks OK at the create screen and then in game = ugly as sin! So I just keep going back and starting again, that said in ME2 you can save the 'code', of a face you made.

Mass Effect had a decent one, on videos or my mates games I rarely see anyone make their Shepard look much different than default, but mine looks completely different, fits the voice better I feel.

I really enjoy making characters, especially on wrestling games, that was a lot of fun, making a wrestler that looked completely ridiculous, watching a huge fat guy dressed as elvis do a Hurricanrana... cool...

Megatraveller, Darklands and Daggerfall all have great character creators.

Jagged Alliance 2 also had a very good one.

Sometimes making the characters can take me ages, as I try and make my idea of a "perfect" character.
