My husband does not understand good gaming etiquette unfortunately, for example when someone is playing Shadow Hearts DO NOT stand in front of the TV when they judgement ring is spinning (the list is endless, his crimes are many *sighs and cries little gamer tears*)
hee hee! I'm sorry to break in here, but I had to tell you I laughed out loud at this. That Judgment ring is serious business. Had a similar problem with the end of God of War II. There's this long unskippable cutscene then a whole bunch of random button presses. I must have watched that damn cut scene with Zeus like twenty times before I finally got to what was the last random button press, and guess who walks in front of the screen just then? Oh the humanity!!! And he knows better! I think he was just jealous I beat the game first. A little bit of gamer revenge if you will.
The swine!!!!!!!! :-O I would wait til he isn't expecting it and return the favour!
The thing is with Shadow Hearts is you know that the game is keeping a tally of all your failures. I played Covenant for 35 hours and my data got corrupted, my son (who was obviously younger then) was at the same point in the game as me and said that so I could finish the game without going all the way back I should copy his data, which was fine, except he is fly by the seat of his pants gamer so I had to train solidly for 10 hour to be where I was level wise and I had 'Won't run, won't hide', on the battle calculator (I never run from battle, only when playing SOTET cos there is a trophy for successfully escaping battle like 20 times) It bugged me so bad I played the whole game straight after completing it.

I consttantly enjoy creating characters in games... It's really fun and it helps me create characters for my comics. I usually have to play with them in the game to determine their personality. For example while play Dragon Age Origins I created a Wizard, he acted like a big dick to everyone because he really didn't give a shit about them but his main two spells he used was the one that summoned a wisp to float around his head to amplify his magic and the one that creates an ally out of the skeleton of a freshly dead enemy. So it told me he has no compassion with these pathetic mortals but still longed for friendship even if he had to create said friends

Oh, he was punished. Believe me. ;) It's been a while since I played a Shadow Hearts, but I do recall they kept track of a lot of things. I never leave a battle typically. I often forget you can do it in RPGs. I'll sit there desperately whacking away at some seriously overpowered creature thinking, "I'm gonna die, I'm gonna die!" and then I do. And then I remember there is an escape option. Luckily, I save so much it doesn't often matter.

Oh, I remember you can escape but I just don't do it.......... I'm a bit of a freak there, I just can't do it (bit OCD tbh). I save religiously too :)

Ahhh, Soul Calibur IV, how I love thee.

I make THE MOST overpowered characters. =D

Gearing them in such a way that it lets me 3-shot the other guy. Or lets me drain their life with each attack , plus the ability to generate more health as an O SHI- button. =D

Boy, at the risk of sounding unpopular...and with my first post at that...but I HATE character creation. Goddamn! Just give me a pre-made cookie cutter character and let me go at it! I'd rather have a patio umbrella shoved up my ass and repeatedly opened that to have to design a character. What a waste of my valuable gaming time!

But hey! I respect the fact there are SOOOOOO many people who enjoy this. I just don't get it. So no offense intended to you.

Maybe it's because I'm the model of peak perfection in real life and know no gaming avatar could even come close to being me. Why even try? :p

Urgh, I hate soaps with a passion, as much as I love gaming that's how much I hate soaps! Why do people who will happily sit in front of the TV all night think that is an acceptable pastime and gaming isn't? At least we aren't being drip fed our entertainment, you are well rid of that one, far better off with your lovely 'enabler'! ;-)
Queen of the Wasteland too, my she sounds impressive..
Hehe... well like any level 30 F3 character, she's pretty much invincible. Only Albino Radscorpions scare her.

And yep.... I do love my little enabler! She's purrty:

That's it, you will forever be judged on this statement!! ;-) Nah, not really, how about a slightly belated welcome to the escapist? :)

I'm with you I prefer making characters to actually playing the game, my Dad always takes the piss out of me whenever there's character customisation.

I spent a lot of time creating a Bronson-esque characer in Saint's Row 2. And since you could choose to have a nice thick British accent, the whole thing came together quite well.

I did that alot in Baldur's Gate 2. I made like 6 games using custom made 6 character parties. I once had 5 monks and 1 rogue in a party. That was interesting.

Same here. The more options character creation has, the longer I'll play it, no matter what it is. I've actually used Soul Calibur III to design what some characters in my stories look like.
Yeah, i think it's what has kept SVR alive

My only problem is that some of these are not excessive enough. Like in The Sims 3, there's not enough hairstyles. Plus you can only wear a hat with selected hairstyles, or you could not wear a hat.

Megatraveller, Twilight 2000, and every iteration of Elder Scrolls games have me spending at least as much time farting around making characters as actually playing the game. Plus, I have folders full of D&D and old WoD characters that I'll never get to play.

And now that I've thought about it, I will have the character creation music from T2000 stuck in my head all day.

And any hairstyle you have is wrecked by hat wearing anyway :p It isn't nearly as good as Sims 2 imo.

Ooh, I forgot about the Sims! Now there's a character creator. When I was big into the Sims, I created entire neighborhoods of characters. I never even tried to get jobs with my people. (Yes, everybody told me this was a weird way to play) I once made two houses with one parent each. They each had 7 kids. I thought, "This will be awesome if I could get these two parents to marry, it will be like the Brady Bunch on too much espresso!" Alas, I accidentally left my PC on one day after starting the game, and came back to a house full of urns and gravestones. It was so sad I had to retire the families.

But you are right, I really wanted to go all out with my Sims creation. They don't let you get crazy enough. It's been a while since I played though, the community used to have some nice mods.
