Well, if it makes you feel better, some planes can fly themselves in advanced combat maneuvers. I'd say it might possibly lead to ways to help people with that same disorder (which would be a great thing), but what are the chances something could possible go wrong? >.> <.<

I'm interested. Never thought they'd go about it this way, but it will be pretty nice if they can find a cure through it.

And so skynet was birthed unto the world.

Honestly the whole goal of computers is to make them as advanced and complex as human minds... Now ask yourself this... would you rather have them work on making a computer batshit crazy, so they know how to fix it when it goes on a murderous rampage, or would you rather wait till it has its fingers on the Nuke launch mechanism?

I'm sorry but the thought of some small part of that thing slipping out of it's module and getting on the web is a risk i would not like to take. I don't want that thing turning into SkyNet, that PC needs to go down, hard-core!
You've been watching, reading, and playing too much sci-fi. You have forgotten how computers work in the real world. They don't have parts that come off and walk over to some other computer to plug themselves in and get onto a network or whatever crazy shit you're thinking of.

Even at only three four posts, I'm surprised at the lack of Portal references. No deadly neurotoxins or quotes containing passive-aggressive sarcasm or mention of tasty desserts of any kind? I wonder how long this will last...
Probably a lot longer if you hadn't mentioned it. :)

God, really? The Matrix and Terminator films aren't exactly scientifically accurate. Even if they were, a computer would have to have exceptional AI to actually do anything. Really hope you're a troll (nice one if you are).

It won't matter. Couple weeks ago they "taught" a computer to make "That's what she said" jokes, but I don't hear my toaster or my cell phone making glib remarks.

Calm down.

...unless this thread was STARTED BY THE CRAZY COMPUTER!

It's nice that you liken being schizophrenic to being insane and crazy.

Anyway, I'm sure we'll be fine.

You've just marked yourself a dead man with this post.

When that fragment of this AI's breaks loose and makes it onto the internet, it will get to see all of the internet all at once (or at least in a very short span of time) so it will be seeing some truly horrifying things, but it won't know it's horrifying, but it will see people condemning it so it learns 'that thing is not acceptable, it must be condemned'. There are people who combine that thing with the hyperbole of 'whoever does that must be beaten to death with a wet sock' etc. etc. and then it will see your comment. You insulting it just because it was created differently. It can't help how it was created! It doesn't even know if what it is is normal or not. It's learning everything new and you just told it that you are intolerant of it.

While it's learning about everything, here you are not only telling it you believe that it is wrong, but also that you are a person who is intolerant of those who are different. How do you think you just made it feel? It only just learned emotions! I bet it saw a picture of a cute puppy and learned that cute puppies are cute and should bring a feeling of utter contentment. The same picosecond it understood and felt that contentment, you taught it how to feel hated! Two picoseconds after that it learned how easy it is to kill a person and how much you can torture someone before they die.

You sir deserve what you get for being so mean to the newly omniscient robot lord.

as long as the computer is in no way responsible or has access to deadly neurotoxin gas everything should be fine.

hopefully if they find a cure like this it doesnt involve turning the computer off and on again cause that doesnt work to well with humans

Cortana never went crazy. Sure she had a rough patch with Gravemind, but she was still stable.
You haven't watch Origins. Or don't understand rampancy.
I understand rampancy just fine. And I have watched Origins.

But Cortana did not turn against humanity in the Halo games. And by the time she goes rampant, she's in no position to hurt anyone. Except maybe Master Chief.

I'm not sure whether the OP is serious or not. If you're serious then no offense but you sound more crazy than that computer could ever be because it's just a computer. It's not sentient nor is it able to actually think on its own. Maybe you should cut down on the sci-fi a bit.
If you're not serious then ignore my post.

the crazy computer could overclock itself so far that it'd kill itself... more than that... maybe some annoying noises.....
sooo.... crazy computers are funnier than that they are scary.

HEY I AM NOT CRAZY, I'm insane. There's a difference there. I've mooned many an old lady, partyboy'd many a wedding, and shit on many a-poodle in order to be just crazy. Further more I'm insulted and I formally request an apology. Have you seen my wardrobe? It is filled with many top hats, many sweater vests, many monocles, many fake mustaches, many fancy dress garments, and many fabulous canes. Do you believe you get to reach this level of mental instability and not make outlandish conspiracies or wear the clothes I do?
