"What the fuck is everyone talking about?" story

knowing that you read the books now, I'm really surprised to hear someone say this, I'll admit the 2nd game isn't the *easiest* of stories to jump into, but not having read the books and only played the first game I felt fine following it, albeit you had to pay attention to certain bits and read between the lines sometimes.

in its favor, the witcher 3 certainly does a better job I think of presenting an overall macro view of the world, so you aren't.."lost" on what the story is going on about.
In the games defense, I never played the first one (I had heard you could skip the first one and still get the second one) AND I read the books after I gave up on Witcher 2. If I went back to it, I would likely look much more favorable on the convoluted story line since I'd probably actually understand it now...

ah fair enough, while the 2nd one I will still recommend to people, I don't think I'll ever recommend anyone to go play the first one...I enjoyed it, but holy fucking hell, probably one of the hardest beginnings to trudge through in any game ever....

not as bad as ff13, but still extremely dry and without much direction.

Surprised no one has mentioned all the batshit insanely stupid design decisions for the PvP covenants in Dark Souls 2.

I'll just quote Emarrel's video [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ncbvez_S5Tk]:

Whose bright idea was it to make the only way to get invasion items to be:
1: Participate in Drangleic's biggest cheese-off
2: Go into NG+ and inflate your SM to infinite buying orbs and getting paired with people who spent 1 million souls on levelling up instead of buying 99 one time use items.
I just want to bully people in their own worlds.

For those of you who haven't played Dark Souls 2 but are still curious as to why the Soul Memory mechanic was the most horribly broken aspect of that game:

Imagine for a moment all the money you have ever received in your entire LIFE. From birth to this current day, imagine all the money you've ever received as a child up until today to the money you earn on a weekly basis. Imagine if you could actually pull up that number.

Now, for some contrived reason, imagine if you and another person who has earned or received roughly the same amount of money that you have were paired up and forced to explain why they are better, cooler, spend their money more cleverly or wisely, whatever. What if you simply treated yourself all your life to junk food, movies, beer, etc.? Meanwhile, the other person spend all their money throughout their lifetime on toys to facilitate a hobby such as Lego or Knex, a violin, gym membership, martial arts or wrestling classes, books and studying materials, college tuition, health coverage, etc. I bet you would throw your hands up in the air and say "That's UNFAIR."

Congratulations, you are officially smarter than the dipshits at From Software who thought that Soul Memory would be a good indicator of what players should be paired up in PvP.

Whoever decided Dawn of War III didn't need to be a thing.

Also whoever decided we didn't need a side scrolling beat em up based on Batman Beyond.

1. First Person Shooters

No, really. I've never done it before, but aiming a gun and shooting someone in real life can't be nearly as hard as waving my mouse around trying to get a little trigger pointer on the baddie while he's moving, I'm moving and the screen is bobbing up and down. How is this entertaining? It's pure masochism.

2. Real time strategy

This is a no brainer. If it's 'strategy', then the skill that I need to win is strategic thinking. How the hell does this equate with furiously tapping buttons and moving the screen around to do things quickly enough to crush the enemy? That ain't strategy, that's speed. I'll take as much time as I want to decide where I want to build a city or where to move my troops, thanks.

3. Fighting games

Press left, right, down, down, down, up, A, B, A, A, B to execute a special move. Seriously? What a stupid game. I played street fighter at a friend's house once and he beat me about 10 times before I realised how dumb it was that the guy who knows more moves is going to win. I was 8 years old. Apparently people three times that age still play these games, but I don't believe it.

That is your very poor notion of a joke, I assume?

OT: Legacy of the Void: Not having hotkeys for the Spear of Adun's powers. Really breaks my train of thought to have to turn away from anything I've been doing just to click on the top of the screen. Fortunately, almost all powers from that wonderful ship are OP as all hell (Fenix comes to mind) so not much is lost, but it's still frustrating.

I've got two: one not so bad and another with all of the bad.

1.) Every game after Disgaea 2 in the series

Why did they take away the Master-Student skill learning mechanic in the later titles? Heck, Disgaea 3 is based on a classroom/school setting; I couldn't think of a better setting for that mechanic. I guess that it was taken out to deal away with some balancing issues with combat in order to prevent certain characters from being TOO powerful, but this is precisely why I love Disgaea 2: most of my main units could heal on the fly, Rozalin tripled as a Gunner, Mage, and Healer, my Fire Skull and Fire Mage knew all the magic skills, and I could actually beat the game with the story related characters (yes, even Tink) without breaking triple digits in the level department.
Then you didn't play Disgaea D2? That system is back, and made in such a way that you can end up with a big loop of masters and apprentices so that everyone can learn everything (it even allows you to get the weapon skills early).
To be honest, this mechanic was a staple of the first Disgaea title, so I was almost certain that it would be back for D2. For 5, I'm not sure at all.

The ending of the first Uncharted.

You thought you were playing a cover shooter with puzzle-platforming elements? Hah! Enjoy your out-of-left-field QTE ending against the world's most generic boss.
I've never really understood the hate on this one...it's like they hadn't paid the slightest attention, or possibly even played the game: the "QTE" isn't one...it's the same 3-button melee combo you were taught in the tutorial at the beginning of the game, and presumably have been using from time to time ever since.

Speaking of Fallout 4...

Gamma guns.

Anybody assault the lighthouse or the cabin just north of it? JFC Gamma guns are ridiculous.
not if you wear a hazmat suit or power armour where you can laugh at all their pitiful attempts to use radiation against you

for me in fallout 4 it would be the person who thought mapping melee and and throw grenade/mine to the same button was a good idea.. oh held it to long trying to hit someone with your rifle? have a nuka grenade at your feet

the other would be no way to tell what settlers you have assigned to what job is another "settler" doesnt tell me anything
