Finding the triforce shards in Loz wind waker. First, you have to find the charts, then pay a ridiculous sum of money to translate them, then find the actually shards and repeat proccess 8 times. It's something so tediously stupid in an otherwise good game, it does make me wonder what the hell were they thinking. The whole boat idea was rather annoying come to think of it...

Is there any other way to get around a skyscraper without getting shot at?
I believe super-man presented us with a peaceful solution to that.

Well pretty much every game has this problem (at least once)
But for me the strongest "WTHTTWAGI?" moment lately was announcing X-Com... as an FPS game...
Why do you even call it X-Com that doesn't make any sense? Because there are aliens in it? Geee I guess we will have to call every shooter "Doom [place a number here]" from now on :/

The most commonly used 40mm grenades has an arming distance of 14-28 meters instead of the less common 2-3 meters of the M381 and M441 grenades. The reason the 2-3 meter arming distance is not used is because its so unsafe! And having 40mm's in videogames with 14 meter arming distance (at least) would make players use the GL the way it was ment, and not as a shotgun of sorts... (well, not to enter a building, you have that assault rifle on top of your GL for a reason, not just to look good!)
It would be great if the arming distance was more realistic, that would also mean you could shoot people in the head with unarmed grenades and rockets. Am I the only one who can see how amusing that could be?

NOT releasing FF8 and FF9's card games are full fledged games. I'd have bought them both in a heartbeat.

Canceling Alan Wake for PC.

Canceling any game for PC when the PC version has already had quite a bit of development time.

Making you have to unlock characters in fighting games.

The Resident Evil style of sequel naming/numbering. They just make it up as they go...

Making Castlevania 3D. Ever.

The Gamecube Pokemon games, specifically Colosseum and XD: Gale of Darkness.

Laugh Out Loud.

This describes my TAFE classes' project. It started off as a fairly standard RPG with an elf, now we have crystal people, enemies whom you can only kill by running into them with a sword, carnivorous plants, walking trees, an animal that is (I kid you not) a combination of shark and gorilla (in an Australian mountain environment), and a huge fucking Pokemon-bird-God-thing that is a god, but which you can also ride, and can also shoot lightning out of his head.

Who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?

Boost guardian in Metriod Prime 2. I really don't think anyone play tested that boss, as it's broken in so many ways. That, or it was supposed to be mind numbingly difficult.
It's Metroid Prime, I think most design meetings consisted of the the dv team laughing evily and aasking how they could make the game(s) even harder.

Admit it, it was satisfying to finally beat the bugger wasn't it?
On my 15th or so attempt

More 8 for me. I spent so long playing it, more than actually playing FF8.

Not keeping the flak jackets and bayonets from World At War for MW2, instead, we get a blast shield, a perk which increases explosive damage and regular knife range in MW2 is the same as the bayonet range from WaW....

Oh joy.

Deciding that Mirror's Edge would become a game where you fight enemies in a sparsely-obstacled room.

Everything in Soul Fighter-That game was horrendous on every possible aspect-The camera, the controls, the story, the combat, the characters, the voice acting, the motion capture-EVERYTHING blew.

I could probably do my own Spoony/AVGN review of that festering pile of pig fuckery...

Finite inventory space in RPGs. They don't do anything to make the game a more pleasant experience. Just let us carry our crap. The one time it's acceptable is if they need to limit healing items. But take Dragon Age, for example, when you're already allowed to carry hundreds of potions. The only things the finite inventory accomplishes are making you spend money on backpacks and forcing you to spend a half hour cleaning up after every adventure.

Every RPG should have a bottomless inventory and more sorting options than MS Excel. Stop intentionally trying to make your game less fun.

The voting system in Halo Reach multiplayer. Sometimes I just want to play Invasion Slayer, but no, everybody always just has to vote for Invasion, and I can't do anything about it. I know it's for variety, but limiting options is not a good idea. Voting for maps is okay with me, but all gametypes should be available all the time.

Also, second half of Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy.

it's especially annoying on the first mass effect when you pick up items automatically

op: dante's inferno was a meh experience overall but really got annoying on the final circles of hell that were challenge rooms you had to complete to progress, who's idea was that because it was an awful idea

Putting combat medics in the same room as general Knox in borderlands. You use all your ammo to remove 75% of his health, turn around to kill a minion, look back and hes on full...and your out of ammo!
