Paul McGann as the 8th Doctor in the 1996 TV Movie.

If we're only counting proper TV episodes, it would be Sylvester McCoy in 'The Curse of Fenric'

I was just developing sentience around the time Sylvester McCoy's Doctor got cancelled, so I think I have proto-memories of watching him, but the first time I really watched it as a sentient being was repeats of Jon Pertwee's Doctor, especially the Sea Devils. Tom Baker was always my favourite, though. David Tennant's a fairly close second.

I don't remember, I was too young and hiding behind the sofa =P

Although I do recall him having a long stripy scarf, bushy red hair. And the episode I remember most is when they're on a space station (I think) and someone opens a closet and out falls what looked like a gigantic plastic ant. That was hilarious.

My first was Jon Pertwee, and I can't remember the name of the episodes for the life of me, but it was the one where he met the Silurians. Later the BBC started putting on the Tom Baker ones, and I remember Genesis of the Daleks quite well.

I prefer Matt Smith the most out of all of them, though.

First one I saw was Eccleston's Doctor in the werewolf episode. Not a bad introduction to the series it seems, since I've been a rabid fan ever since.

I started off with Eccleston in the first episode of his and I've watched every one since then due to the convenience of Netflix. Also I've seen some of Baker; he was also great. As for my favorite doctor... it's a tough call between Tennant and Smith. They both have their qualities that make them amazing. For example, Tennant had great hair and Smith has a bow tie. Bow ties are cool.

Eccleston as the 9th Doctor in Rose.
Same for me. The old series ended right around when I was born, and there haven't been any re-runs here afaik.

I saw glimpses of the old series here and there when i was younger, but i was never all that interested. When the new series was starting in 2005, i got all excited, no idea why, but ive been a fan since then. So, to answer, Ecclestone and Rose.

Ark In Space, I believe.

I think it was his first episode, which came with my favorite quote of all time "You know, just once I'd like to meet an alien menace that wasn't immune to bullets."
Ah, Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart. /salute.

I preferred "There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes. " from the same episode. :)

Calling all Doctor Who fans, I was just curious as to which incarnation of the Doctor you all were introduced to. I was lucky and my first was Genesis of the Daleks with Tom Baker. (The Fourth Doctor)
The one on that plaet where the people have been fighting for ages and they invent the Daleks? Holy crap, me too!

While this was the first episode of Doctor Who I ever saw, I only got interested in it with David Tennant and the three-parter about the Master with Jack Harkness and Martha Jones. Ever since then I've tuned in for each episode since (and I try to catch up every now and then on DVD).

I know the Doctor is Tom Baker, and I swear that I remember an episode like that.

It is with a little shame that I say I was one of the newer fans, my first doctor being ecclestone, in "rose", but he was very good, "fantastic" in fact, kinda sad he was completely upstaged by David tennant. I wonder if anyone will ever match him for greatness, or will it just end up like so many film series that never quite lives up to the earlier films, but only for the reason that the earlier ones were incredibly brilliant.

I kept seeing the first half of the end of the second new series, where the Cybermen and Daleks show up to terrorize everyone. I saw that episode several times over the course of a few years on the SciFi channel. After awhile, my schedule ran into Eccleston's season showing, and I started really taking an interest. Then, hooked, I saw all of the new, got the collections, and even started picking up some of the older ones. And I never looked back...
