Suppose an Alternate universe where the American military just said, Ok I give up.

Who would try to take over the US? Could they?

Why does the Taliban/Al Queda/Terrorist want to bomb the US anyway? It's not really efficient and they don't get anything out of it.

Would Iran just send over a few troops and claim the US as their own?

I can only imagine China and Russia possibly sending over forces, everyone else would be a small fry.

There must be a reason for the source of aggression against the US today and it has nothing to do with wanting their resources right?

To answer your final question, I'm guessing the reason some people don't like America is our perceived arrogance. To them, we often act like everyone else is beneath us just because we're a major world power. We throw our weight around in the world, and when we knock something over, we often refuse to take the blame.
Can any non-Americans confirm this?

Edit: I'm not answering your actual question because clearly you haven't played Freedom Fighters.

China would take our country. unless the rest of the UN stopped them which is very likely Iran does not have the military strength to control our civilian population. I dont know about Russia. our Best allies would be Britain and Australia and maybe Canada and Mexico even without our military conquering the Us would be difficult

Russias army is vastly degenrerated from what it used to be, and China really doesn't have the resources necessary to sustain itself without the USA. We would prtobably see alot of unchecked agression from terrorists and such, but it would eventually fizzle because they can't really make much of an impact.

My vote goes for a joint strike between Canada and Mexico, where they would meet in the middle and then duke it out between themselves.

Or, maybe Britain would try it's luck again... those shiesty POM's.

Edit: Also don't forget the millions of armed civilians that would give a big WTF to our leaders and take action themselves.

Everyone would want to take America. If we just forfeited control over our territory, then it would be up for grabs. Though it wouldn't really be an invasion of the USA if the USA no longer existed.

Yeah, as a non-American I can confirm that. It's not that people don't like Americans, though, atleast that's not the case with me; it's the way foreign policy is implemented by DC.

Probably Canada since they are pretty close a mirror image of the USA culture, a good friend of the USA, and very close the USA. Also more civilized than Mexico.

Canada. They are the closest and seem to have more going for them then Mexico. Plus they have lumberjacks. No one beats lumberjacks. No one.

Well thanks for that, and for theones up in the post is not that e hate the arrogance is that we hate your government fricking nagging into other countries bussiness, get that in your head nobody wants a world police.

And appart from Rusia or China or Japan I cant really imagine anyone wanting USA to invade even if the army surrendered.
Also I guess our lack of "civility" is the price to pay for all those kinds of food, the best beahes in the world, the most culturally filled regions (says UN not me) and all the climates in the world within the borders (except for artic), damm doesnt compare well I guess well have to hold it up.

This was edited: Alright given, no one could beat an army of lumberjacks and mounted guards, it would be like a sick coallition of Freddy and Jason.

No-one really wants the physical territory of the US. The US will not be invaded because no-one has a reason to invade it. There's simply nothing there that people want. The US may be attacked one day again though, but that's different to an invasion. For example, Sept 11 was definitely an attack but it wasn't an invasion.

As for who would attack, China certainly won't, they will never attack such a valuable trading partner that has given them so much money over the years unless it is absolutely forced to by sheer American stupidity. Russia also have their own fish to fry and don't really care about America like they used to in the Soviet days, they also wouldn't attack unless they really, really had to. Iran likes to talk big but left to its own devices is not a threat to the US and would have serious trouble with the logistics of simply getting enough soldiers with enough equipment over to the US to start anything approaching a reasonable fight in the first place. And no, Iran doesn't have nukes. They can't even refine their own oil for chrissake, think they can build a nuke capable of hitting the US? Even if they did have a nuke they wouldn't use it, they'd just wave it about a little every so often like North Korea (another non-threat to the US) does to strengthen their diplomatic e-peen.

The only genuine threat to the US at the moment is fundamentalist Islamic groups, and they're on a pretty tight leash right now all over the world. The US has finally stopped secretly funding a lot of them, thankfully (it's well known that the Taliban, including Bin Laden, were initially trained by the CIA to fight the Russians - boy, the US sure backed the wrong side in that war). Everyone else is fairly happy to leave the US alone as long as the US returns the favour.

Thanks to the Second Amendment, no-one would. Any invasion of the United States wouldn't be anywhere near worth the cost.

Incidentally, their self defence force is the 4th largest army in the world.

Oops?

Someone who wanted to die.

I love the whole "americans are arrogant" argument. No we aren't, our elected officals are.
Also, If you want America to stop sticking it's giant dong into other countries, start being a little more effective when shit starts going down.
