Ok next question,

What if the US cut their military spending, the OP was 100% cut

15% cut?

30%?

50%?

Imagine what good all that money could do.

Oh come on. Australia's gonna set our kangaroos on you. The invasion force you'll never see coming. Why do you think we go out and shoot at them every year? It's survival of the fittest, when we're done only the ones able to dodge bullets and kick your arse will be left.

Even if our military gave up we have enough civilians who know how to use a gun to daunt the armed forces of most single African Nations. And besides, if the military just gave up the hardware would still be around: tanks. planes, bombs and such. And all aside we have pretty kickass units in our law agencies that rival the special forces of most countries. And if we had to we would mount an insurgency that would make the IRA's campaign look like a bunch of drunk brawls.

I mean, you think what were doing to the Taliban and Al-Quade is all out? We are concerned with conserving resources, not winning. Those guys only blew up a few buildings, try landing troops on our shore (if you could get passed our Coast Gaurd and Navy) and we will tear apart the world to get you. We will go all out with everything, and thats not counting our WMD's.

The point is that unless the Union dissolved there would be no profit to attacking the U.S., because in order to neutralize our capability to resist you would have to blow up half our country, if we dont do it first so you dont get your hands on it. By the time you win all you would have is a smoking wasteland, burned out cities and guess what - no resources worth even fighting for. Not oil, diamonds or anything that has intrensic value because we here are all about credit.

Why the hell would anyone want the US, its just a big mass of land which contains nothing of value and is filled with a large number of idiots, crazies and extremists. Just bomb the place to the stone age and then let the Canadians have it.

Hrmf. I dunno'. England would probally just sit back and watch. And laugh. I can imagine us all perched on our couches, smoking a pipe and laughing; "Silly Yanks. Anyone for a game of Wii Tennis?"

But, if I were to be serious, probally Mexico or Russia. I mean, Mexico are right on their doorstep so they have easy access and Russia are just awesome. They could probally take the country with one bloke, a flag and a crate of Stella.

The US is probably the most benign superpower in history.
I'm stealing that for my comedy act. Genius. Ten stars for satirical value.
I apologize. I did not mean to disrespect the British empire!
Yea years of slave labour is a pretty benign thing for an empire to do.

I'm hearing alot of 'America has no resources' floating out there. Do you really think that all our resources are imported? Do you think that we get ALL our oil from the middle east? There was a time when we were EXporting oil. We grow a decent chunk of the worlds food. The large bulk of quality entertainment is centered in the US.

Yes, we have our share of idiots, but they would probably say the same thing about China if they had a media so set on dragging people down.

Even without military support, no country would be able to hold onto us. Canada knows better. Mexico might try, but more than likely any invading force would be quickly absorbed into the populace to enjoy the higher quality of life.

On this line of thought, can I vote for France? Maybe there's another Napoleon running around.

Admiral Yamamoto famously said "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a man with a rifle behind every blade of grass."
Yessir. Add man or woman though, y'know, gotta be PC.

God knows I'd be blasting people away if America were invaded. That's a cause actually worth fighting for.

Why area all the Americans and Canadians fighting on here? We're friends, right? /:

Themselves.

They'd come full circle and wage bloody war on the other side of their damn country. Then come back and feast on MacDonalds. (Before blowing that shit up too : D)
Yeah, a civil war makes more sense than an invasion, sadly. We Americans do love to hate one another.

Good point. Isn't there mandatory military service in Sweden?
Switzerland.
And it's mandatory training, not service.
Every household has a sig 550 and a cache of ammo. It's why nobody fucks with the swiss.

I know about Switzerland, but that is just training. The Swedish Armed Forces, however, is a conscription-based military service.
