Probably Canada and Mexico at the same time, but not necessarily working together. The US would be flanked and unable to control both armies and get easily taken over. Who finally controls the region would have to beat the other in an Epic Final War.

Some countries would like to but they cant
its called force projection and the only countries that could possibly do that are all western european who have been America's allies since WWII but even those countries dont have the man power.

so shut up about invading the US

China would take our country. unless the rest of the UN stopped them which is very likely Iran does not have the military strength to control our civilian population. I dont know about Russia. our Best allies would be Britain and Australia and maybe Canada and Mexico even without our military conquering the Us would be difficult
I wouldn't rely on much support, if there wasn't any 'if you're not fighting for us, you're fighting against us' threat from the USA.
As for who'd occupy first... probably Canada. They ARE closest, after all.

Yessir. Add man or woman though, y'know, gotta be PC.

God knows I'd be blasting people away if America were invaded. That's a cause actually worth fighting for.

Why area all the Americans and Canadians fighting on here? We're friends, right? /:

They'd come full circle and wage bloody war on the other side of their damn country. Then come back and feast on MacDonalds. (Before blowing that shit up too : D)
Yeah, a civil war makes more sense than an invasion, sadly. We Americans do love to hate one another.

Not sure why people want to take the USA I mean I see more people escaping to the USA nowadays.

Plus in the event everyone turns on the USA and trys to take it by any means let It be know that we have nukes ready to be fired everywhere thus Russia would fire its nukes as well and the world would end way to go humanity glad to see everyone is getting along so well, check and mate.

fyi: there is supposed to be a clevar picture but I cant seem to get it up.

I don't really know why people keep saying Canada or Mexico. Canada is bigger? We have 10X the population. And our population is about 3X that of Mexico, so even if they joined up we'd still have twice the amount of manpower, so flanking doesn't matter much.

More statistics: 45% of American households are believed to have guns, which comes out to about 206 million total guns.
On the other hand, roughly 26% of Canadian houses have guns, which comes out to about 15 million guns.
Can't find a statistic on how many guns are in Mexico, mostly because all the related statistics are about how many guns Mexico gets from the US. Some statistics say 36%, others say 90%. Either way it's a lot.

This isn't even taking into account the military.
America: Army 507,158
Navy 347,693
Air Force 347,352
Marines 179,762
Coast Guard 41,002
Reserves 1,000,000
Paramilitary 53,000
Total for US Military 2,475,967

Now how about Canada?
Active personnel: 66,949 (ranked 58th)
Reserves: 19,290
Total: 86,239

And Mexico?
Currently, Mexico's armed forces number some 620,400, including the reserves.

I'll even round up to do a bit of math here.
Canada's 100,000 + Mexico's 750,000 = 850,000.
[That's a lot of rounding up]
...I'll round down to compare... That's still nowhere near the 2,000,000 in America's military.

Here's a list of countries currently possesing WMDs, or nukes of you will. United States, Russia, United Kingdom, France, China, India, Israel, Pakistan, North Korea. See Mexico OR Canada on that list? No!

So, please, enlighten me onto exactly how Canada or Mexico, even if they joined
forces, could possibly stand any kind of chance against the US.

it's an intellectual exercise and the first stipulation was the folding of the American military for whatever reason thus military size and WMDs are not a factor for debate

Why the hell would anyone want the US, its just a big mass of land which contains nothing of value and is filled with a large number of idiots, crazies and extremists. Just bomb the place to the stone age and then let the Canadians have it.
I don't think they want it anyways. They're happy being up there all frenchy and cold.

No chance in hell, we have sense. We'd go after countries that are more valuable, like say, Timor Leste.

Russia doesn't know where half it's Nukes are. The Majority of American nukes are 40+ years old and they're not sure if the rockets will launch let alone the nukes detonate. Plus you would need the ability to launch them, having enough nukes to blow the world up 10 times over is nice, but when you only have the capacity at any one time to launch enough to maybe take out China, Russia, and parts of Europe. You're kinda screwed.

Well. If the United States Military has been dissolved, then they would quite easily stand a chance. A unit of Soldiers with body armor and such will stand better stead against a heap of fat, overweight smelly American's with rifles.

I find it hilarious that anyone thinks that a bunch of civilian gun owners can repel a military force. Even if fully automatic weapons were legal, you're still fighting better trained, better equipped, and better organized foes. Not to mention their armoured forces, IFV's, tanks, helicopters, and bombers, would reduce resistance to rubble instantly. People like to think they can run up to enemy soldiers and gun them down and run away. But real combat often involves shooting at enemies 300+ yards away, while snipers pick off exposed soldiers. Insurgencies are not that successful. Look at Iraq, you hear about 5-15 fatalities a month, and it isn't like we're geing pushed away. Hell, 100 militants died to take a base, and the US lost 8. Being from the US does not give you super powers. Red Dawn is an awful representation of an invasion.

Obviously Canada. Those Canadians have always been plotting behind our backs, preparing an army of suicide penguins that will be dropped from airplanes on every major city and military base. We also know they are currently training Spec Ops kittens to capture the U.S Congress and force them to vote on crazy laws (such as a law that requires people to eat an entire box of condoms every night before they go to bed).

Suppose an Alternate universe where the American military just said, Ok I give up.

Who would try to take over the US? Could they?

-Extremists, most likely. Probably not.

Why does the Taliban/Al Queda/Terrorist want to bomb the US anyway? It's not really efficient
and they don't get anything out of it.

-Because we aren't Muslim.

Would Iran just send over a few troops and claim the US as their own?

-They probably wouldn't, the Iraqi military is like preschool for 30 year-olds.

I can only imagine China and Russia possibly sending over forces, everyone else would be a small fry.

-Agreed.

There must be a reason for the source of aggression against the US today and it has nothing to do with wanting their resources right?

No, every superpower in history has had a time when they were the most powerfull country in the world, and everyone has always hated the big dog.

Like any great nation it will be taken peace by peace by several countries until it no longer exists. Probably most coastal nations and neighbor countries will attack america. If america cant fight mexico hell yeah they'll invade part of america. free land! Also iran couldnt really couldn't claim america because 1. its too far 2. iran is landlocked 3.Too much competition for remaining american land. Russia would probably take alaska :)
