I've been wracking my mind trying to decide between the two and I just can't do it. So I'm looking for opinions here. Who do you think is a worse director? The way I see it, they each have only one truly great film (Stargate and The Rock) and the rest are either all style no substance, glorifying some kind of national inferiority complex, or both. What say you all?

Feel free to pitch in about Uwe Boll, M. Night Shalymamanana... and whoever, but remember this is specifically about Bay and Emmerich

I'd probably say Bay. He pisses me off so much more.

Transformers 2 had 13 comedic relief characters. That means that it's actually an action/comedy.

Combine that with Bad Boy 1-2, and that's a trio of action/comedies that Emmerich wouldn't be able to out-suck in years.

Also, Stargate wasn't that good.

They both serve a purpose.

However...

I will always hate Bay now for making Megan Fox popular and reducing my favorite childhood series to leg humping jokes.

I'd have to say, Bay.

None of his movies have ever impressed me in the slightest. Not that Emmerich is that good either. But at least he has a steady directors hand and none of that "shakey cam" shit that Bay always pulls.

Bay as he is sooo unpredictable.

Emmerich is not great, but you know what you will get from one of his flms. If you don't like monuments beng blown up, don't watch an Emmerich film and you won't have to hate him.

At least I can enjoy Emmerich's films on a stupid level. Bay just make me want to punch something, preferably his face.

I must admit I've never seen either of the bad boys films. I hear about 50/50 people saying they're good or bad. And yeah, I've seen Hot Fuzz's verdict before anyone does an 'according to hot fuzz'...

definitely Bay.

I mean, Emmerich can make some really overhyped movies that aren't that great, but Bay is a MASTER at it.

BAY.

Have you watched moviebob's review of 2012? he perfectly describes emmerich! Emmerich can make a movie that's coherent and watchable!

Bay, hands down.

I mean, at least most of Emmerich's films are entertaining in some form. Bay's fims just make me dig my face into my palm every five seconds.

Wait, we can have discussions about films here...oh ok?

Well Bay of course, he doesn't even know how to direct a decent action sequence without shaking the shit out of the camera, filling it with lens flairs, spinning the camera around an object till you get dizzy, and cutting up scenes with a ginsu knife.

Imagine the type of video game he would make....games need to have a steadiness that gives you baring of where you are, where your enemies are, and how to reach your objectives.

Bay would totally fuck all that up to where you won't even have a baring of one enemy rushing towards you as the camera swings around upclose to his face, then your face, then to a billowing American flag from a distance and back again...0o

One has made a great film. Both have made good films, both have made substandard films... What matters most is that Uwe Boll is worse than both of them...

Since I am quite ignorant when it comes to movies, I shall just say michal bay. Because I know who he is.
