Michael Bay has made bad movies but I just love The Rock too much.

Bay, no question. Emmerich can indeed at least compose a scene nicely, even if the movie itself is heavy-handed moralizing. Bay is just...well...

I mean, they're both irrefutably bad. But . . . goddamn! Bay makes to want to remove my liver and spleen and transplant them to the first person who quotes this!

Bay's best was The Rock and Armageddon. Emmerich's best was ID4 and... pretty much only that.
