Real pirates or fictional ones? I hope it's real, otherwise we are going to see a steady stream of Capt. Jack Sparrow.

My favorite real pirate would have to be Black Bart, just because he was forced to be a pirate, and then stood up and took over when the captain was killed.

MY favorite fictional pirate, though, is Yellowbeard, because he's never more dangerous than when you think he is dead.

This. It's one thing to be a pirate, it's another thing to be a pirate and be payed for it, while being made a national hero. Therefore, he gets my vote

EDIT: also, Cap'n Jack Sparrow, but he ain't real, so I don't know he counts in this thread
