In a bizzare coincidence, my birthday happens to fall on talk like a pirate day. But as for my favorite pirate, I'd have to go with Ridley, the leader of the space pirates in the Metroid games. Why? Because I freakin' can! But if we're talking about real pirates, or pirates that talk, I'd have to go with David Jones. He was a low ranking nobody pirate who worked on the Indian Ocean, and he somehow got a whole mythology based around him and his locker.

Peter Easton! [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Easton]

Probably the most profitable pirate of all time, Peter Easton was so formidable and menacing that he was never captured. At one point he had an armada of over 40 ships, several of those actual British Warships, a heavily fortified base in a cove, as well as an island. He was so powerful that Sir Richard Whitbourne, after being held captive by Peter Easton for eleven weeks, convinced the Brits to grant a pardon for Easton. He never did receive the pardon though, and continued to terrorize the high seas.

He eventually disbanded his armada and settled down into a life of luxury in Savoy, where it was rumoured that he had over two million pounds of gold when he died at a ripe old age.

Henry Morgan, Welshman, founder of the British Empire and pirate. Such a good pirate was he that he went on to become governer of Jamaica and was hailed as a hero.

Captain Fizzle McSpunkPants

He had a harsh up-bringing but the seas taught him well.
Poor guy has the best and worst name...

Then again, does Tom Selleck count as pirate?
Cause he spends alot of time at sea and he stole so many fair ladies' hearts!

So basically, Fizzle McSpunkPants or Tom Selleck....

Historically, my favourite pirates are probably Edward "Blackbeard" Teach and Zhou Tai, though I'm fully aware that their legends and modern renditions are probably a lot cooler than they were in real life.

My favourite fictional pirate is Captain Goiter, the notorious Train Pirate and scourge of the South East Railway.

I dont have a real person. What I do have is Monkey D. Luffy the rubberman, the greatest pirate ever dreamed up by man.
I second that!

I do love my pirates who don't do anything as well.

Though... I am a pretty damn awesome pirate too if I do say so myself.

Henry Morgan. He took less than 500 men to assault 3 fully manned Spanish castles on the island of Porto Bello and won, now 100,000 pieces of eight richer. They then held off a Spanish counter attack as well.

Blackbeard comes in at a strong second place. During raids, he would stick burning cannon fuses in his hair and beard to give himself the appearance of a demon from hell. You gotta admire his creativity.

Blackbeard, because of his pure awesomeness. To intimidate enemies, he would light his beard on fire and pretend he was Satan. It would end up with half of the enemy crewing jumping overboard in fear.
