I think most people now-a-days are on the Beatles Popularity bandwagon. They just think the band's cool, and usually don't listen to the music. Their reactions are pretty dramatic though.

I used to like the Beatles until i really got into music theory. Their songs are so simple and the chord progressions are almost always the same! A 4 chord song with simple lyrics about love is their trademark....
While this may be good in small doses, they just overdid it.

It's apparently blasphemy to not like the Beatles purely because they're influential. Meanwhile it's perfectly ok to dislike other influential bands (for example the Doors, who are known as pioneers of hard rock, and who, in my personal opinion, just produce better songs).
I don't like the Beatles either, in my opinion a lot of other bands from around the same period were a lot more talented (except for John Lennon he's a beast). Though I do respect them for setting in motion the face change of rock. Fact is though there were a lot of bands at the same time doing similar stuff, the Beatles just got there first.
I love the Beatles but come on everyone likes different music. Hell sometimes when I don't know a certain Beatles song our bassist gives me a wierd look. Kind of like I just suggested that we cook bird shit for dinner.
You might be a plebian, but the people you know are weirdos. Seriously, they make the people in my hometown look normal. You don't need to change yor taste in music, but you should probably try and cut off contact with said loonies at your earliest convenience.
Ok, first off I am a MASSIVE Beatles fan; but I respect your opinion. Mainly because your not saying that they're bad, you simply say that you don't like them yourself. I do the same thing: If I don't like something, I simply say I don't like it. The world would be better if more people did this. Anyway; what I REALLY can't stand, are the people who will purposely go to a Beatles song on Youtube and start bad-mouthing them. F!@#$%G TROLLS!!

The only time I'd get annoyed at someone for not liking a particular band is if they were super ignorant. For instance, my friends little brother refused to believe that the Beatles were A. Talented and B. Famous throughout the World. I told him that they were at least on par with famous bands/artists like Rolling Stones, David Bowie, ACDC etc., but he said, and I quote:
"The Beatles were only big because there were no other bands in the 60's."
I facepalmed and walked away.
The only time I'd get annoyed at someone for not liking a particular band is if they were super ignorant. For instance, my friends little brother refused to believe that the Beatles were A. Talented and B. Famous throughout the World. I told him that they were at least on par with famous bands/artists like Rolling Stones, David Bowie, ACDC etc., but he said, and I quote:
"The Beatles were only big because there were no other bands in the 60's."
I facepalmed and walked away.
I don't care for the Beatles either bro, so you're not alone there. Although I've never had to deal with anyone being bitchy to me about it because I've never talked to anyone about my taste in music.
Although if someone were to be douchy enough to stop talking to me just because I don't worship their favourate band like them, I'd confront their ass and be sure they know exactly why they're a pompous douchebag and why I'm glad I don't have to talk to them again.
On a side note people have a tendency to side step me fast as all holy hell (and by side-step I mean f'in jump out of my path, sometimes into a wall) as soon as they see we're on a collision course, they usually look pretty freaked out whenever I give them a 'the hell?' look afterwords too. I must look pretty intimidating, so I probably wouldn't have to deal with some douchecanoe getting all bitchy because I don't listen to "their" music to begin with.
