I realise posting a thread like this some people are going to post some films that have won oscars and are good films, i am expecting Forest Gump to be one of them but lets face it, a lot are bad, really bad and the most recent film to be nominated and was actually good in my opinion was Batman Begins and that was down to Ledgers fantastic Joker performance.

Ahh, there is the qualifier. It's your opinion.
And you haven't given any examples of bad ones! Every Oscar winning movie I've seen was great.

Well considering all of those are pretty good in the common eye, again what the hell are you talking about

You have seen these films and enjoyed them, that is fine, all i am getting at is these are bad films where really good films go without nominations and awards (not that they need it)

Uhm, Ledger wasn't in Batman Begins. He was in The Dark Knight.
That is my own dumb mistake and what is even more annouing is i first put down dark knight and changed it convinced i was wrong

Okay, so you don't like the films that were nominated for the last Oscars, but lots of people do, it's called oppinion.
I can't really think of anything else to add.

bad movies win oscars because only a few people left in the world have any common sense because all the idiots have had their brains sucked out by aliens, its a conspiracy like in the x files, ROSWELL STYLE! in this world gone mad we wont filter the idiot, the idiot will filter us, only then those as super smart as Escapists will be left alive to bitterly cry 'YOU MANIACS! DAMN YOUSE! DAMN YOUSE ALL TO HEELLL!'

Have I just stumbled into a parallel universe in which the meaning of bad has been changed to that of good and viceversa?

Seriously though, you're five months late for the Dark Knight Oscar fanboyism.

(I will however concede that Changeling was just ok, and The Reader is massively ovverated. Not "bad" though)

Lol a thread based on individuals opinions...this is going to be a winner I can tell.

The reason you don't like them is because Oscars are judged by people in the business of making movies. Not Average Joe. Therefore the outcomes aren't going to be what might gross best at the box orifice.

Erm, I think you mean The Dark Knight. Not Batman Begins.

Anyway, what you say is a "bad film" may not be what the academy thinks is a "bad film"
