i was just wondering does any one know why dreams are so wierd? i mean last night i dreamed that i was in this long thin strip of concerete in the middle of sky, i was trying to hit sonic off with a newspaper and get him onto earth that i could see in the distance to save the universe, it was like a game i had multiple tries at it and when i lost the universe blew up and i started over. then before i woke up i was getting fed up so i knew the universe was about to explode so i ended up saying "here it goes again 3,2,1 boom" then i woke up.

also has any one else had any wierd dreams? i would like to listen (i find it entertaining)

From what I understand, it's because dreams are when your brain says "To hell with you, I'll make you see whatever I want. And you can't do a thing about it!"
And then it unloads a bunch of random stuff picked up during the day into your head.
[sup]If I'm wrong here, please tell me.[/sup]

But really, would you want to have mundane ones?

Edit: I forgot to say: I'm pretty sure you just had the Best Wakeup Moment Ever.

Basically yeah. I just had a dream last night that was 1/4 Stargate Universe/ 1/8 Borderlands, 1/8 left 4 dead 2, and 1/2 Dead Space.

Freakin awesome dream. But totally random.

One of my friends was talking about how dreams are the moment where your memories of that day blend in with your subconscious, so it's a lot of current ideas mixed with old or just plain freaky stuff.

Lately, most of my dreams have been blending into reality to the point where I wake up and, for the first few hours of my day, can't distinguish if those recent memories are of dreams or have actually occurred o.o

Do you really want to be one of those guys with normal dreams? Those guys who's dreams are actually more boring than their actual life? I have personally recently dreamt about fighting ninja cats in my kitchen, by tickling them to death, in order to get to the evil wizard, who was hiding in a pot on the fridge.

'cause your brain doesn't care what scenerio it makes as long as it makes a scenerio

the use of dreams is physiological, not psychological

I don't know for sure that is true but I find the converse hugely difficult to believe

I had a dream not so long ago. I was going for a job interview. I had the interview and it went well. The man interviewing me said you got the job, you start tomorrow at 7. Exactly then, my alarm goes off, waking me up at 7. My first thought was "I don't want the job", and trying to go back to sleep.

Dreams are memories, patched toghether and added to by your brain into a story. I think that nightmares serve to train you in the real world by pitting you against dangers in your sleep.

I find this to be true, generally, as I always dream about things that I've recently been thinking about a lot.

the weirdest thing about dreams is, that anyone could controle their dreams just as they are experiencing it. it's called lucid dreaming and theoratically anyone can learn it.
you have to start with writing all your dreams down, right after you wake up. as most of your dreams fade away as soon as you wake up and are forgotten, this will help you remember your dreams better and eventually your memories will become much more complete and more detailed. also, you might try to specifically envision something you want to dream about, right before you fall asleep. if that doesn't work the first night (and it probably won't), just keep on trying.
eventually your dreams will become much more vivid and you'll gain a feeling of hightened self-awareness within your dream, meaning you'll know that you're dreaming and beeing able to controle the dream itself.

Your brain is pretty much just firing off at random, going through all the information it has absorbed throughout the day in no particular order, combined with things you're worried about and symbolism that represents things, so you can get a really weird mesh of stuff.

A very weird dream of mine was that I was in Shivering Isles with the crew of SSV Normandy and I had to play volleyball against TNA wrestlers in order to save the world. oO

I'd agree with most people by saying that dreams are probably just from your imagination, formed from your thoughts. I've had a few creepy dreams. In one of them, me and my sister were trapped in my house, but it was on fire. There was smoke everywhere, and I couldn't breathe. I managed to escape the house unscathed, and was hyperventilating next to it before it struck me that I hadn't woken my sister up. The house burnt to the ground before I could do anything about it. I swear I haven't been the same since.

Almost every single part of our brains are active during dreams--except the logic center, apparently. That's kind of awesome.

Well I just woke up from one of the weirdest dreams I have had in a while. It involved escaping from a futuristic building all Assassins Creed 2 style, then when I went outside it was like the first Assassins Creed game, except I was Sheperd from Mass Effect blasting all these aliens away. At the end I also remember screaming at some lady that works at Wendy's to fix my PS3. Oh and there was me walking through some field with friends eating Subway cookies.

My friend once told me that the reason people can't remember their dreams is because they are that messed up that your mind has to block them out otherwise you would go crazy or something. And that's why you can usually remember dreams from your naps cos the more there is of something (forgot the name) that gets released into your brain as you have a deep sleep, the more messed up the dreams get.

I may be wrong, this is just what my friend was telling me.

I Agree and to hell with my brain... it never helped me before. The only person who had a normal dream was Martin Luther King. Your dream is all the random shit that you want to happen in real life but too stupid to realize. Have you ever had a dream, woke up and said "thank God its a dream" vs "I wish this was only a dream"... want an easy way to make $$$ watch the scariest thing ever or some random kid show, go to bed, wake up, and write down what happened... How do you think ZombieLand was made...L4D the movie much.(also might I add that it was no doubt the best videogame to movie EVER!!!

Call me crazy but i would dream forever if i could. I think its like a new kind of high for me when i dream (you know but without any side effects). And most of my dreams are pretty kick ass.
