Why are elites in Halo 3 (multiplayer) so often discriminated against? Dumb topic I know, I'm bored

By the way i couldnt be arsed to read all the other comments so this may have already been said...I personally believe (although it may be complete rubbish) that elites are easier targets in multiplayer as the head is the same level as the body torso, therefore if you miss by a tiny bit you still get a body shot??? It may be my misconception but the elites seem to move more predictable as well making long range shots far easier if the target is an elite. usually i wouldnt care between shooting spartan or elite, actually id probably choose to shoot the spartan from some respect for the elite guy just for choosing a different armor, however the body shape makes elite more vulnerable... in my opinion. id love to hear back about someone saying different/the same rather than talking about respect or the halo universe in general. not to say thats not cool (have read all the books and love them) it just seems to me that the argument should be about gameplay and facts not about which youd rather be seen as. People don't like them because in multiplayer they're easy targets for headshots because their heads are not only sticking out in front so it's easier to snipe them from the side, they're lower and you really only have to aim at their torso for a headshot.

That said, I play 'em because I like killing people as the Elites because I want to show them the humans are just as piss-weak and useless in video games as they are in real life. Plus, they're called the "Elites". Ergo, to play one, you must be an elite player.

My roommate told me it's because they have slightly bigger heads and are thus easier to headshot. In reality I don't know either.
As my good friend Henry put it.

It's because they have the headshot range of a fucking football field.

The reason why people hate elites is because 80% of the time there are 10 year old kids playing as them.Plus a lot of the time elite players are noobs i mean how many MLG players do you know that play as elites.besides spartans have more armor varients.
I'd like to see you kick my ass in Halo 3 with my Elite character model. I'm not a ten-year-old... and I am definitely no noob. Anytime I've played on Live at my friends house(I can't get it at my place... something about the internet being received weird) I am pretty damn good.

As for MLG players... who gives a crap about what MLG players play as? I probably know some people who are better than most MLG teams and could be on an MLG team themselves. They just lack the over-inflated egos that go with the title.

Here here, I hate MLG players (shallow egotistical pricks) and hate it when spartan players use stereotypes to try and make elite players sound like idiots:
"You can't drive"
"Only little kids play as elites"
"Blah blah blah"
Seriously I think I'm like you, I can play the game pretty good too and I can do this wihout being weighed down by any supposed weaknesses.

I think most people think Spartans are better because they're thinner, and they're more used to having a human shaped body, and can relate to what the character is doing, or maybe they're just bad at understanding anything alien, even if there are only really three changes.

Change #1: If we're behind cover, we're MUCH harder to get a headshot on.
Change #2: If we're running away we're MUCH harder to get a headshot on.
Change #3: We're bigger targets.

Honestly, I think that more people should play as elites, then they wouldn't get sniped so easily.

It's mostly because the people that usually play as elites are either trolls or suck horribly at the game.

That's understandable, but if you're trying to snipe an elite from behind, that's an enitirely different story, it's really hard to get their heads then, whereas a spartan who sees you aiming for his head with a sniper will turn to run, then be sniped in the head. This is because the elites head actually moves as they turn around, which is vastly different from Spartans. Then when we've got cover, you won't see OUR heads sticking over the top.

I play as an Elite sometimes, just to be different, but I get get a very slight feeling that I do a tiny bit worse when I do so. I don't know if it's just superstition, but when people say things like "Elites are easier to headshot from the front" I tend to believe them.

It's a shame. Even in the single player, I'd have liked to see a lot more focus on the Arbiter. They had this really interesting, conflicted character - a fallen hero, renounced most of his whole society, driven to join the enemy for a higher cause, etc. - and they ignored him in favour of the Master Chief, who is pretty dull in story terms. I guess that's why I want to like playing as the Elite in multiplayer, even if it's a handicap.

Because Elites had bigger hit boxes on the head in Halo 2, so the "pros" played Spartans, which led to people think of Elites as "noobs". That prejudge carried over to Halo 3.

Why, you might ask?

BECAUSE BEING DIFFERENT GETS YOU FUCKING SHOT.
Ya know, that's practically flawless logic right there.
Please read the rest of the post kplzthnx.

But seriously, it's true. If you play in obvious armor, as an Elite, or differently, you get singled out. Ever play with Bungie staff? It's hilarious. Team BR's on Standoff, they ALWAYS get taken out first. Flaming skull and all.

I play as a Spartan using full EVA until I unlock Ascentic...and seeing as how I only play Halo 3 at my buddy's house, that won't be for some time.

Wait, youre listening to people on Xbox LIVE? Whats the matter with you?
Not quite LISTENING, they just purposefully make it very hard to ignore them.
Thats why theres a mute button. Or just give them shit back, thats always fun.
This is so very true.

Part of it is because a large part of the vocal group mocking you are prepubescents, and part of it is that they all want to jump on the bandwagon.
Any prepubescents who try with me get it right back at them, Ill sit there shouting down the mic at them about how much I hate them becuase theyre ruined online gaming and how much I want them to either fuck off or die, preferably both. Ill rip into their parents for buying them the game in the first place too and if they say what country theyre from, well, it just gets worse. I fucking hate kids.
A bit harsh, but for a large group, I approve.
For a large group? Ill do this to anybody, whether its one person or a group, if they give any shit or just wont shut the fuck up, Ill give 'em hell.
