Whatever, go whine elsewhere, cry-baby.

I give you 10 irony points though, were it intentional or not.
Don't you see that this thread is inherently ironic? It's a thread COMPLAINING about COMPLAINING.
Seeing how unavoidable that is everytime someone points out excessive complaining, the irony is so stale that it hardly warrants a mention. It's not amusing when it's so consistent.
Then the original concept is so stale that it hardly warrants a mention. Which I do indeed find ironic. Complaining is so complained about that you are complaining about complaining about the irony of complaining about complaining, after complaining and noting the irony of complaining in a complaining thread yourself. Man, if you whine about THIS post too, who knows how complex we can make that sentence?

EDIT: Fine, fine. I see how you feel now, it does get irritating after a fairly small number of posts. Regardless, clearly the solution is to not get involved, rather than engaging in the neverending complaining recursion. Speaking of which, I should withdraw from it right now. Good day to you, apologies for any offense.

Pick a subject, any subject, then stick it in Google, along with the word "Forum". Read the replies to threads about Grasstrimming, stonemasonry and cowtipping. There will be whiners in every one of them. Nobody is happy with anything, but instead of developing a new cutting, bricking or punching technique, humans just have a big old whine. Been that way since God crapped out the third caveman, who just wasn't satisfied with the heat of the fire created by cavemen 1 and 2.

Well it's no single reason; first it's simply easer for us to complain as we frequent froums more often than most demographics; we are used to being given things that we didn't really earn and finaly we have gone from getting everything to getting screwed over, thats quite a quick transition. Of course lumping any large diverse group into a single lable is going to make your generlisations less accurate than normal, which isn't saying much I suppose.
Also I expect you could answer this question better than any of us, why are you so whiny?

You don't really believe that do you?
Of course I do. I never said there was anything wrong with it. What else would they be?

Umm... no. No, no, no, no, no. Games are art, my friend. Artistically designed storytelling experiences that use interactivity, along with visuals and audio, to tell a story in a way that nothing else can. That, or they are essentially sports, offering intense and skillful competition to anyone willing to play them seriously. Gaming offers both.

Video games are much more than mere toys.

When playing a game, you're essentially participating in a highly elaborate game of make-believe. You're making certain choices through your avatar and suspending reality for the duration of that time. That's pretty much what you do with toys, right?

Books and film? You're an observer to those. Passively experiencing something that somebody else constructed.

It should be noted that had the cavemen been satisfied with fire's heat, they would never have discovered that if you contain the fire properly and make it hot enough you can melt metal and make new things; never being satisfied with what we have is what drives progress. Your computer fits in your house because someone wasn't satisfied with the perfectly good warehouse-sized analog computers of the 40s.

Ultimately, the idea that game design is some godly art that mere mortals should not even attempt to comprehend is ridiculous; we've all played games, we can all apply our knowledge to criticism of games. Companies hire entire departments purely to nitpick and ***** about the game prior to release [it's called QA testing], so clearly they recognise they're never going to get anywhere in an atmosphere of enforced positivity either.

Not 'mere' toys. Of course they're art. Art can be enjoyed in lots of ways. Including playing with it.

But the defining characteristic is still art. If art can be played with, it is art that can be a toy. By calling games toys rather than art, you are essentially saying that the defining characteristic, the thing that games are at their core, are toys. Besides, toys imply childish behavior: art does not. If games are defined as toys first, than we are all immature and childish because we still play with toys. But that is not the case: they are art that we enjoy on a whole different level than a kid enjoys a toy.

Just saying, the way you define it seems to paint a completely different picture of gamers and of games than what it should be.

It's human nature....
My answer in a nutshell, it is entirely within human nature to have everything they could ask for yet still complain about the little things and demand more. Or try and compare who has the best thing and becoming aggressive about it or defensive about it, turning a playful pastime into a vicious civil war.
Humans are preculiar creatures.

It's why I'm all the happier not be one.

Teaser trailers... What about em?

Servers... Crashing is low on emptier channels & the maintanance only lasts 1-3 hours.

Multiplayer facets...I try to avoid multiplayers. When that doesn;t work, I just refuse to socialize on them (because I can't type fast enough).

Single player length...Most games I play are single player & they are neither too long nor too short.

Menus...Nothing special about those.

Gameplay...Nothing avoiding purchacing the game for a few months until it's fully patched won't solve.

Graphics...3D is good, polygonal is nostolgic, 2D is good & nostolgic.

Cost...$20-$60 for a game doesn't seem so expencive.

Release dates...The longer it takes to come out, the less buggy it will be & the more I'll want to play it.

Loading time...Don't have many games with that, but good for bathroom, snack, food, & cat breaks.

Glitches...If they don;t crash the game, they're usually hilarious to watch.

Entire games...Try before you buy, & you never make a regretable purchace.

I'd like to complain that its ironic you complained about me pointing out the irony of complaining in a thread about complaining about complaining when it was a whole another case of complaining and then complain about me complaining about you complaining about the irony of complaining about complaining and then about the irony of complaining about complaining myself.

For the record, I haven't slept for two days. So if that paragraph after some research seems correct, I demand respect.
And I do not whine. Ever.

EDIT: Oh no you won't. This is a war now. =)
