Wait, wait, wait.

You think shooters are terrible now because you get your arse handed to you online?

Hang on, I need to go smash my head against a wall until that makes sense.

Its why i dont play online.

I wish there was a way to play with people of your own age group, I know call of duty is "supposed" to be played by adults only... but for the love of god I cant stand screaming kids in my ear! and the smack talking... its why I've given up on on-line gaming, especially one so full of grubby little commoners as modern warfare ;p

ps, I don't talk shit online. never saw the point.

people become obsessed. What was once fun for all is now petty insults and cheap tactics by the few who are lame enough to ruin it for everyone.

sorry if it doesnt make sense but, well i wanna play against competent players :/ not the crappy ai in shooters also i agree with googleback. and sorry if it seems stupid but really, i just think that shooters should be monitored better :/ i mean look at halo reach they have a game breaking ability but bungie wont fix it, and call of duty has far to many hard core players that play for seriousness to the point of making everyone miserable, so my thoughts are why the fuck play a game if your going to get your ass handed to you in "EVERY MATCH" :/ it sucks the fun out of it

Its because most mainstream FPS players are profanity spewing pre-teen [profanities] with high pitched voices that seem precison tuned to turn normal people into one of them too.

I think its way more of an XBL attitude issue and some aspect of online culture in general. places like 4chan for example where the inherent anonimity can give rise to much funny and awesome....but is like 90% vile, rage, hate, intolerance...

Its a mojar problem as XBL is a "common face" of gaming and it makes outsiders see us "normal" well mannered gamers as one of those raving phsycos

I don't see the point of talking shit period, unless it's with friends for the sake of fun.

The fact that people are simply insufferable online comes with the game. I've been playing CS for 10 years and I've found them to be general more mature. Yes, there are dicks on it, but you're bound to find some.

Mainstream games are mainstream because they're popular, and considering the number of kids playing mature shooters, ironically, many feel that A) it's more fun to grief people or B) they have something to prove and take it way too seriously.
A) is usually because they think they wont meet the person ever and never have to confront them, which is why I remember every person who is disrespectful on WoW so when I go to blizzcon, I can scare them for fun.

Multiplayer should just be an add on man, it's not worth the effort. People will be people and competition turns people into angry little demons. People like to be immature and "show off". I guess it hits a nerve when pretending to kill people is involved. it isn't a friendly game of tennis.

Notice multiplayer in non FPS's usually have friendlier communities.

heh very true Azex and well said ^^" i mean the reason i posted this was, i kinda wanted to hear peoples opinions on this cause well...honestly im tempted to just drop pretty much the whole genre of fps, due to the lack of moderation online :/ dont say im weird cause story mode only lasts so long and when you run out of that then what? you paid 60$ for a 1-2 and a half hour story? i dont see the point in wasting my money on games that just anger me :/

As for your comment WaaghPowa i dont deny it, i can deal with dicks :/ its the griefing that gets to me, ok i know thats petty but still, im not saying it has to be sunshine and rainbows and crap like that, :/ i just wanna be able to play and not be spawn killed every 5 seconds

PROTIP: arena FPS games probably aren't for you.
I suggest something like BC2 where you can do well without needing aim, where you be a supporting role for those of use that are pretty good at shooting and stuff.

Either that, or suck it up and improve your skills. I know its taken me awhile to become half decent at Counter-strike, and I've played it for more than 5 years.

Games like halo reach aren't broken, its your (lack) of skill or willingness to learn from your mistakes.

from my experience Team Fortress 2 has a decent community (PC) but beyound that i think you are outta luck in if online FPS is the only thing you are looking for...it seems the majority of that user base is just naturally dickish

Well depending on he game the system you could try to get to different lobbies or servers. I know that's often not an option and if that's the case, you could try a different game. It takes lots of practice to be half decent at FPSs and really I never saw the value in it myself. Hundreds of hours so so you can shot a guy in a game better... that seems like a waste.
