Becuase if someone thinks something is better, they will try to prove it.
Whereas, people who think it's all opinion wont attack people about it.
Whether PC, PS3 or religion.

Yep, you got us. That's why we hate Justin Bieber and Twilight too. Not because they suck. Nope, that couldn't be it.
But console gaming doesn't suck.
Well said I really hate the hate consoles get for bieng simpler than OC.
Now I mainly use my Xbox, because PC costs so much to maintain!

Same reason people argue over which console is better: people are fucktards.

Now, another thing for every single fanboyesque relationship is generally the lack of knowledge from the other fanboyesque relationship. For example, the "fact" that PC gamers spend thousands of dollars JUST to play games simply isn't true. Odds are they've spent far less than that and not just for gaming. So, when someone mentions something incorrect, a flamewar is going to break out, and it's start was probably the result of fanboyism in general (that being a console gamer says something about PC gaming they don't really know anything about). Console based flamewars seem even more stupid to me. I mean, most of them play the same God damn games and they both have awesome exclusives. Why get so pissed off? Oh, I know why, it's because YOU can't play the other consoles awesome exclusives.

Really the only thing I can see getting worked up about is when a console gamer (which I also am) says shooters are better there. They simply aren't, and yes I'm saying that like it's a fact because fuck it I said it's a fact it's a fact fact. Fact.

It's because either you're generalizing and/or people want to feel superior.

That's why you have both!

Congratulations, you contributed nothing to the thread!

I am sure most of the past threads have just been angry console OR PC gamers trying to start a flame war.

I posted a well thought of opinion. I checked it over just to make sure it wouldn't start a flame war.

The fate of that happening is left to the members of this forum.
The Flame War isn't the problem, it's the repeating of threads like these. The searchbar doesn't hurt y'know =P

Ive been a PC gamer all my life.. I have a PS1 but i only played i rarely...

The reason im against/dont like consoles is that i like to have 1 platform where i can do everything i want, instead of switching between a console for games and PC for internetz, music, movies, chatting, being on this site, etc etc...

I agree some game genres are better on a console, as in platform games, driving games, fighting games... But since i dont really have an interest in games like that, it doesnt really matter to me..
FPS's on consoles is a BIG no-no for me.. If a game needs auto-aim because it lacks proper controls i just dont see a point in playing it, fun as it might be..

Plus most of the annoying 12 year old dicktits with microphones is playing on consoles, and i like to stay far away from them...
i like the bulletstorm reference in your post.

OT: it's always been like this i usually just laugh at all the idiots arguing which machine is better they all have their pros and cons and if you say that consoles dumbed down games then you need something to do besides gaming because clearly you've been at this too long.

Well, if someone can easily tell which machine you own, you're biased. Your entire OP consisted of you slagging off PC gamers for talking down to console owners. How do you expect people to show legitimate point in a form of debate when you start the thread off like that?

The reason most PC gamers dislike console owners is simply, they're ignorant of the wider scope of gaming. Many console owners will hail their PS3 as "the best platform, graphically" which of course ladies and gentlemen is completely wrong in every sense of the word. Most console owners don't consider PC gaming as a legitimate option. I've found the more "hardcore" gamers at school started out on consoles and gravitated towards the PC when they realised that's where the true challenge lies. It's just blind ignorance on the console owner's part to consider the only choice is either Xbox 360 or PS3.

When you're ready to face gaming maturely and seriously, without the limitations of Sony and Microsoft deciding what you can play, or a ceiling on your hardware, buy a PC. Until then, you just enjoy calling people "gay" over Xbox Live and listening to kids with unbroken voices screaming down your ear.
I agree, note I do like both platforms, but I fully agree

plus with my experience at school, the more mature and intelligent people are PC gamers (or they have 360's with PC ports only... like Fallout 3)

the jocks, douchebags, bullies, and pot heads all own 360's and talk about how Blops/Reach are the best games ever

and all the Meme nerds own Wii's and rant about how Nintendo is the greatest thing ever before screaming "THE GAME!" as if anyone even CARES ANYMORE...

...on an off note this computer can runs StarCraft 2 on Ultra and it only costs $200 (LESS THEN A PS3)

so what's that about playing a few grand?

...plus I don't pay for "gold" on computer

plus I have unlimited games to play so I'll never be bored, it's called Flash (See: Newgrounds/Kongregate/Armor Games/MoFunZone)

I expect to see 100 different threads this year on this same topic.

The ones you see are a vocal minority. Just like how you have people "defending" their consoles, they "defend" their PC. I have my preferences but I'm not going to call people fucktards because they would rather play a game on a console.

Two words: console exclusives.
What about PC exclusives?

http://adrianwerner.wordpress.com/2011-games/

DotA 2
Diablo 3
The Witcher 2
Guild Wars 2
The Old Republic
Mech Warrior 5

All of these coming this year. Consoles are lucky to get that many exclusives in two to three years, and half the time they just end up being filled with more cinematics than actual gameplay. *Shrug.*
First of all: when I say console exclusive I mean it can be both on the PS3 and 360, you might of already known this, I just wanted to be clear, such as Bayonetta, Vanquish, Enslaved, and Saints Row 2 (NO SR2 does not have a PC version, that's just garbage code.)

Second: the new mechwarrior is a multiplatfrom game, not PC exclusive according to that link.

Third: I don't care about any of those games, especially TOR.

I honestly prefer a controller over a keyboard. That's my main issue, and when I do use pc games, I use the mouse rather than keys
A little Off Topic, but this is also my preference. You can either take the good (mouse) with the bad (keyboard) or you can go for something okay (controller). I was very dissapointed that I couldn't get my PS3 controller working with my PC, I wanted to try playing Super Meat Boy with it.

On Topic: It's a vocal minority, that's all. I've never encountered much of the claimed hate outside of a flame topic where everyone is throwing shit at each other anyway.

I used to be strictly a console gamer. That changed within the past few years when I got a decent PC and was also shown a handful of decent games to try out. Now I like PC gaming more than console gaming because I feel I can get more out of it than what most console games can provide out of the box.

Example: Left 4 Dead DLC and constant updates. Free DLC and we're the first to get the updates. Course, Valve is really happy with the PC crowd, so it this probably isn't the best example. Same time, I don't need to worry about memory cards, controllers, or even game-discs for my PC as most of my games are digital, I like the mouse-n-keyboard setup and I have a terrabyte external hard-drive. So far, everything I have with this PC setup is better than what any currently running console can do.

Umm... Can I say MODERN consoles dumbed down games?

because I remember back on the PS1 where if you got shot your health didn't magically come back, and I also recall Mario 3 being Harder then... well... any modern Mario game that's for sure.

also remember on the SNES, Mario World? how if you got hit you went to small mario no matter what? then when they brought it to the gameboy you just lost your power-up, then got smaller, THEN died (and you were also given luigi... aka mr. cheap-easy jump)

note: I only listed CONSOLE games, compared to CONSOLE games

I'm mainly a pc gamer and I don't hate consoles or console players.

I think the experience for most games is inferior on the console versus the PC. I think some game types such as RTS, adventure, and rpg lend themselves better to a 2 foot keyboard/mouse interface than a 10 foot controller interface.

I think many of the more "epic" sandbox games are released in an unfinished state and require community mods to play "properly". As consoles converge with PCs game companies loosen their control and allow more and more community involvement I'll probably change my tune.

I don't like how consoles hold the multiplayer experience hostage to the whims of a corporation. But PC games are moving in that direction as well (blizzard). So I will never purchase a product that doesn't allow me to set up a multiplayer environment on my local network. I will never buy a game that requires my pc to phone home and ask permission to install a product I carried away from a store. Or to ask permission to play a game I purchased.

I prefer to play some games on Console and some on PC. I'm a more or less hard core PC fan. but console gaming has it's place. It's the right tool for the right job. It's job was to get games out to people who didn't want to take the time or effort to build and configure a Gaming PC (back in the days before Plug & Play this could be a monumental task). It did that great. And as long as i can still find great games for my PC i'll be happy.

Also, the MOUSE.

PC gamers prefer to use the mouse. Have you ever tried command and conquer on PC and then Console? No matter how much Halo you play you can always be a better aim with the mouse. Console games even add auto targeting to allot of FPS games to overcome this. until someone comes up with something better than a mouse for consoles allot of gamers are going to prefer the PC for this reason.

No clue. People just have a great propensity to be dickheads.

As it stands, as soon as I hear either side start an argument, I leave the room to go do something else. Like play a damned game.

I frankly dont care about the "PC vs Console" war. I poke jokes at it, but the only thing that really matter in the end are the good games that are produced for whatever platforms.

This guy got it right.

Now every fanbase has elitist fucks, but since this thread is about the PC Gamers I'll stay on topic.

I think PC Gamers think that consoles are inferior because they only look at hardware specifications as the answer. I'm not gonna lie, PCs are more powerful, but that's like bragging about specifications on a car. Sure the wheel affects the speed (fun) but it isn't the only factor. Not a very good analogy but its simple.

PC games do a lot of genres better. Like FPS, RTS, Point and Click, and MMO. But these genres were created on the PC so really its a non issue.

Have you ever played a fighting game on a keyboard? If you say "why would I want to", same could be said about RTS on consoles.

I don't want to get flamed but maybe its a defense mechanism, since they spent so much money on the PC, they had better feel like they made a right purchase. So they want to have "more fun" than console gamers who paid less.

Yeah, I can say one thing, I hate little kids on XBL playing games they REALLY shouldn't be

...there's a reason AvP almost got an Ao rating for violence alone
don't buy it for your 6 year old

For the record it costs less to upgrade the normal work PC that everyone with a job and a house owns into a gaming PC than it does to buy a current-gen console (much less, a current-gen console plus accessories).

I'm sorry you think we all bought Alienwares or Power Macs.
