Okay, so you've clarified more, and in that case, I have different advice...
Consider yourself lucky.
Plenty of people go through their high school years putting down the smart people because they're insecure with their average IQs. It's a phase, and they will grow out of it.
Also, just because people aren't as smart as you in some ways doesn't mean they aren't smarter in others. A friend of mine, who I went to high school with, was a jock. A football player, to be precise. I had always typecast him as a dumb jock until I had an art class with him. The dude was incredible at drawing, much better than my scribbles, and he knew his art history very well. He's currently in a college history class with me, and we score about the same on tests.
Honestly, if a person continues to be stupid their entire life, well, someone needs to work in retail.
P.S. Work ethic is more important later in life than brains. Believe me, I'm a slacker.

Something tells me that if the world were suddenly to end, the dumb whores and jocks are the ones who will restore humanity. Jocks are strong and can hold their own in a world that's been fucked. Whores will obviously do what they do best and repopulate the world.Echer123 said:

Because they talk about things most people at that age want to talk about. Sports, pop culture, music, stuff like that. Most kids at that age don't want to have lengthy intelligent discussions about politics and philosophy. They just want to take things easy. The jocks and the whores are good at that. Intelligence comes on many different levels, some people are good at maths, others writing, some art, some sport, and you will tend to find, even in the most "stupid" people they will have some sort of talent that will surpass your own. You may look at that stupid blonde, and find out she has a really great knowledge of colours and form, that jock maybe really good at quick strategic thinking.

Granted that would be true in a situation where there were only these two people present. However, this was a class discussion, so while the argument might not have influenced the "stereotypical girl", it might have made other people in the class think. Even just having the teacher leave the lesson thinking, "At least there is one student that cares" would have been a worthwhile outcome.Internet Kraken said:

Now, because we wish to emulate their success, we try to mimic them, at least subconciously, and perhaps conciously. As such, a dumbass, if you will, is on the road to success, whereas an intelligent person is just a douchebag wasting their time. Understand?
The girl probably wasn't even involved in the conversation. She probably just overheard what the group was saying and then made a comment about it. Everyone else probably just shrugged it off, realizing that she wasn't a part of the conversation and for that reason they did not need to acknowledge her statement.DFish said:

Your response sounds like a reason to argue with someone who does care. You can't get something out of arguing with someone that doesn't care. They won't listen to anything you are saying. Odds are they will just tell you to piss off. From your tone I'd have to say, get off your high horse. You sound like you are looking down on everyone because they act differently from you or don't know what you know. Just because someone seems to be doing something that seems stupid to you does not mean that the person is an ignorant jock or bimbo. How someone you've never meet is acting as you pass by tells you nothing about the individual. Social behaviors do not immediately give any indication of how a person thinks or how intelligent/dumb the person is. How someone socially acts is a reflection of their station in life, upbringing, and the immediate surroundings. Don't think you know everything about someone because you see him/her once or at a certain time on an ongoing basis. People are too diverse for that. Stop judging people so quickly and being an egomaniac, Stop trying to judge everyone by your standards, and try to be a bit less harsh on the world.
