It's same thing as Germans, everything is influenced by history.
Excacly. The soviet union was no better then the nazzi germany
Don't make it sound as if I think their still like that I simply mean it's due to past actions that have influenced steryotypes and develepors can't see to let go of thoes ideas.
I mean that. And that is the truth. IF you have doubts, watch the documentary "The soviet story"
Have I misunderstood you are you really saying you think all russians are still like the solviet union?
You misunderstood. My bad english bight have something to do with it. I am talking about the past.

It's because of the Cold War, and the decades of American propaganda portraying any and all Russians as either colossal douchebags or Hitler in a fur cap. It's just part of the ingrained culture nowadays, at least in the States.

No, but seriously, it's hard to break something like that. There was a time when people with English accents were always the bad guy, probably because of the Revolutionary War. Then there was a time when Germans were evil masterminds, probably because of World War 2. That's how it goes, but I think the stigmas will go away eventually.

What he's trying to say is that the Soviet Union, before its collapse and the fall of the Iron Curtain, was much like Germany under the Third Reich. As far as I'm aware, there were no concentration camps, but anyone that spoke against comrade Stalin and co. was instantly silenced, usually in spectacularly brutal ways. Soviet Russia was a shitty, brutal place to live, but from what I hear, nowadays it's, while not perfect, much improved. Though having Vladimir in power for a couple decades doesn't lend itself well to improving society IMO.

Not so much anymore, the real argument is "Why are the Arabs/Muslims always evil?"
Both can be answered with the same thing: War propaganda.

Because everyone hates Russians. Even Russians.
Really though, I think it's because Russia is such a big place that anyone(even Russians) could believe that some psycho would come from there.

I feel I must remind you that several of the Call of Duty games have Russian campaigns where you fight against the real hate figure, Nazi's.

There are good and bad people of every ethnicity and just about every demographic (unless you make a demographic out of good or bad people specifically of course). Even the children of bad people who do their best to brainwash the poor kid may at some point encounter an alternate way of living that they choose instead, growing up to be good people, or at least not as bad as the parent(s).

Unfortunately, games are still deeply saturated with stereotypes and unconscious, inadvertent prejudice... this, coupled with the whole soviet mess, along with several other historical things I'm sure, has created a distinctly one-sided (and rather boring) trend...

There are exceptions, though. In Silent Storm the russians are on the Allied side, fighting against nazis and international terrorists. In No One Lives Forever 2, there is a rather stereotypical russian pilot who helps the player despite considerable risk to himself. And in Night Watch, the good and bad sides both exist within a russian society.

Now, admittedly, these are the ones I could think of, and Silent Storm and Night Watch were both produced by the same russian developer, as I understand it; but it's something. Anyone else have a good example?

communism ironically is the best form of government, it has just yet to work

A wise man once said "Communism works...on paper"
I believe Winston Churchill once said something along the lines of, "Democracy is the worst form of government, apart from all the others that have already been tried."
